Responsible for leading the team through requirements, design, implementation, and verification of software for our current and next-generation Routing & Switching Platforms. You will take an experienced and influential role contributing to product development for Layer2/Layer3 datapath architecture, delivering innovative solutions to meet demanding performance, scalability and feature requirements in support of advanced Carrier Ethernet services, advancing next generation QOS & MEF capabilities focused on service provider, carrier grade capability. Role will require hands on technical product management as well as people management, which includes day to day management of resources, tracking and reporting progress of the teams in various cross-functional meetings. Your Role As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be expected to participate in all the phases of SDLC. Own end-to-end product development including critically reviewing product definition, architecture, design, scoping, planning, implementation and test plans. Product management & ownership of functional areas, identifying initiatives for improving product quality, debuggability & usability. Work closely with different HW, SW, QA and program teams and ensure quality product delivery meeting the release milestones and schedule. Closely work with key customers to understand requirements and provide support. Drive integration with enabling technologies including third party software, existing platform, and hardware capabilities. Assist and lead in early product demonstrations to customers. Project management for the team, including effort estimation, project tracking, and status reporting. Your Responsibilities Build, manage and drive a high performance SW development team - Planning, assignment, tracking, performance management and people development. Lead a team of engineers to architect, design and develop Dataplane/HAL software components for Routing & Ethernet Switching Platforms to provide packet services in a virtualized, container-based system. Participate in all phases of an agile, rapid-cycle software development life cycle, should participate in and lead the team during requirements, architecture, design and implementation process to ensure a high quality delivery to test teams. Prioritize & drive resolution of customer issues actively with customer support teams. Attend meetings, report progress and effectively able to collaborate with multiple teams across geographically diverse areas. Drive strategic communications with presentations, slides, and ad-hoc discussions to evolve and align technology strategy and to engage external and internal stakeholders Drive innovation & take initiatives to improve the SW product quality, suggest and drive debuggability and usability improvements. Identify process improvement areas, tools/automation to improve product quality & predictability. Collaboration with stakeholders R&D teams. PLM and Product Architects. 3rd party vendors. QA and Field Support teams Program Management Minimum Qualifications & Skills BS/MS degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent. 12 - 18 years of Software development experience (5+ years specific experience working on Routing & Ethernet Switching Networking Platforms) Strong experience of L2 protocols, QoS, ACL and Dataplane features, deep exposure to Packet control plane (MEF, IP/MPLS) and Data plane (Broadcom/FPGA based) blocks for Packet processing and Traffic Management. Hands on experience and good knowledge of Chassis based multi-line card and pizza box architecture. Good understanding of System design, Dataplane and HAL design principles, High availability (HA), Performance & Scalability design aspects. Exposure of docker, container based micro services application development in C language. Experience in Distributed and Disaggregated Chassis (DDC) architecture is desired. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, effectively able to collaborate with multiple teams across geographically diverse areas. Previous experience in a leadership role on a successful project is highly desired. Good knowledge of network design and deployment scenarios in Carrier/Metro Ethernet Space is desirable. Ability to work well with a group of junior and senior engineers in a high energy, dynamic, fast paced development environment.
