Job Description

Purpose of the Role
This role is responsible to settle commercials for hot rolled, cold rolled and coated steel products required for Tata Motors and its large base of sheet metal vendors at multiple locations. The role also requires to act on the guided Share of business, development of new steels and support other business purchase activities.
Job Responsibility
1. Strategy Orientation
Timely price settlement and PO release in line with engineering requirements and directions within guideline of business
Maintain the Centralized commercial data and ensure process discipline.
Negotiate with suppliers and align it with the Raw Material strategy.
Co-ordinate &Collaborate with ERC for new age materials, new technologies exploration
Pursue VA VE and cost reduction initiatives with ERC and Cost engineering.
Steel development coordination along with ERC and Quality
Review tech specification shared by Engineering for a particular HR, CR , Coated products.
Prepare relevant RFQ document for floating to Vendors for approved mills
Prepare Quotation Analysis Form on the basis of received offers.
Recommend SOB for vendors as per organizations long term sourcing guideline.
Obtain internal approval for vendor finalization through standard process as per DOA and release PO
Monitor and Review financial health, operations, IR health, etc. of the suppliers for long term sustainability
On boarding of new suppliers in line with requirement and engineering directions
2. Financial Management
Estimate/ Calculate Raw material quantities in line with Business requirements.
General financial impact scenarios considering the volatility of business and commodity prices
Price settlement with cognizance to product line expectation and expectation management
Prepare cost reduction initiatives and optimize the cost of the raw material
Co-ordinate with relevant stakeholders like ERC and achieve cost reduction targets.
Preparation Monthly Provision for RM
Process pricing approvals for assigned suppliers and follow the process as per Delegation of Authority (SOP) document.
Release/Add/Modify POs in the system as per requirements
No of plants managed as plant account manager followed by no of issues resolved / support extended
Drive QMSG to minimize obsolescence and free cash flows
3. People Management
Effective communication and interaction with the stakeholders to ensure proper process and necessary improvements to achieve optimal performance.
Timely escalation of issues to take support for timely resolution.

Desired Candidate Profile
Education Bachelor of Engineering (BE /B.Tech).
Relevant Experience:

  • Experience of Purchase Process
  • Fundamental understanding and value chain of sourcing process of Raw Materials
  • Experience of Supplier Negotiation, working knowledge of levies of domestic and interactional markets
  • Ability to deploy timely all cost reduction levers
  • Understanding of Finance terms, balance sheets, profit and loss and cash flow
  • Ability to understand and appreciate interdependence of various macro and micro economic indicators

  • Supplier Relationship Management in capacity of Key Account manager
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Advanced MS Excel
