Job Description

Purpose of the Role:
The role is responsible for managing the Operations Quality function to ensure engineering specifications are consistently met in the built quality of vehicles and aggregates. The incumbent will drive achievement of quality performance targets such as DIFTR and CPA, strengthen built-in quality across manufacturing processes, and ensure robust quality systems, early issue detection, and effective resolution of quality concerns.
Job Responsibilities: * 1. Daily Quality Operations & Governance

  • Deploy QA manpower in line with production plans and shift requirements.
  • Monitor End-of-Line Quality Gates and review quality fallouts.
  • Lead rejection review meetings, analyze rejection trends, and control rejection costs including SAP booking.
  • Track next-customer and field complaints through ICA/PCA mechanisms.
  • Prepare and publish daily MIS and quality dashboards.
  • Participate in 5F meetings and escalate alarms for unresolved quality issues.
  • 2. Build-in Quality Improvement
  • Monitor in-process quality performance and effectiveness of Quality Gates.
  • Implement standardized inspection processes, NTWG, and ZDS stations (CTQ and non-CTQ).
  • Identify and implement poka-yoke solutions for recurring and field-related failures.
  • Review calibration status of gauges and equipment; coordinate calibration through approved agencies.
  • Participate in 1/5/25 trials for 4M changes and ECNs, and provide quality feedback.
  • Drive quality issue resolution through ICA/PCA (PSF) and ensure controlled release of bypass processes.
  • 3. Quality Management System (QMS) Implementation
  • Conduct layered process audits and drive ICA implementation.
  • Ensure WCQ documentation compliance and closure of OFIs through Manufacturing.
  • Implement and sustain IATF-compliant quality processes for operations.
  • Monitor CTQ and CTE parameters and ensure adherence.
  • Track process capability indices and drive continual improvement through corrective actions.
  • 4. New Product & Process Quality (Early Involvement)
  • Participate in 3P events, Kaizens, process walk-throughs, and station readiness reviews.
  • Support PFMEA, process planning, HLTO, and productionization as part of LQOS with FMQ teams.
  • Prepare Quality Issue Brochures and preventive action plans for new models.
  • Resolve BITS-related process issues and raise DCRs for design modifications.
  • Analyze low-kilometer field issues and drive corrective actions.
  • 5. People Development & Engagement
  • Monitor absenteeism and ensure effective work allocation.
  • Identify training needs and ensure timely completion as per training plans.
  • Implement actions for SO compliance.
  • Compile employee suggestions and participate in Kaizen initiatives.
  • Drive issue resolution through Team Quality Circles (TQC).
Stakeholder Profiles & Nature of Interactions:
Internal:
  • Manufacturing: Provide feedback on defects, ensure built-in quality, seek ICA/PCA in PSR formats, and support issue containment and purging.
  • Quality Gates / SQ / Next Quality Gate Teams: Demonstrate defects, seek structured problem resolution, and ensure preventive actions.
  • Technical Services (TS): Provide inputs for process planning, PFMEA, and Control Plan updates.
  • Quality Standards: Feedback on try-outs, MBPA, and standard compliance.
  • FMQ: Share quality history and process-related learnings.
  • Vendor Quality Assurance (VQA): Share part-quality issues for ICA/PCA.
  • Engineering & ERC: Demonstrate design-related issues and support resolution.
External:
  • Dealerships: Clarify and analyze issues reported through Dealer PDI and field feedback.
  • External Calibration Agencies: Coordinate calibration of QA equipment through NABL-approved laboratories.
Desired Candidate Profile:
  • Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech (Mechanical or related discipline)
  • Desired Work Experience: 8-10 years in operations or manufacturing quality roles
  • Necessary Knowledge:
  • Automotive quality standards and systems (IATF 16949, WCQ)
  • Structured problem-solving tools and techniques
  • Manufacturing processes (TCF, Paint Shop, Weld Shop, Powertrain lines)
  • TQM, TBEM, process capability and audit methodologies
