As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking and Wealth Management team, you will play a crucial role in an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products that are secure, stable, and scalable.
Job responsibilities
Executes creative software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
Develops secure, high-quality production code; reviews and debugs code written by others
Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues, improving overall operational stability of software applications and systems
Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to probe architectural designs, assess technical credentials, and determine applicability within existing systems and information architecture
Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and adoption of new and leading-edge technologies
Participates in design and code reviews, incorporates security and non-functional requirements into designs, and provides input on information/data flow
Incorporates modern architectural standards into application design specifications
Takes ownership of business-critical and complex applications
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 5+ years of applied experience
Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability
Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, SQL)
Strong skills in automation and continuous delivery methods
Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Sonar), application resiliency, and security practices
Demonstrated expertise in software applications and technical processes within technical domains such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and mobile technologies
In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and related IT systems
Exposure to UI frameworks such as Angular (version 4+) or ReactJS
Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases, PL/SQL, ORM frameworks (e.g., MyBatis, Hibernate), and basic Linux/UNIX skills
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Practical cloud native experience
