Role Purpose:

Advising on any legal and contractual matters, managing, drafting reviewing and negotiating various contracts and other commercial agreements, managing external counsel, advising on disputes and risk management issues, setting up best practice within the company and dealing with relevant legal matters for the business.

Key Role Responsibilities:

Recommend improvements to departmental policy and direct the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of department activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service Device and implement controls to ensure no violation of ISR regulations in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties Assist in the development of the department budget Managing, drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements Advising on Legal and contractual matters Managing, drafting, reviewing and negotiating ship repair contracts and commercial agreements Supervising work of other Legal Counsel of the Legal Department. Managing external counsel. Assisting with setting up best practice within the Company Assisting to ensure the smooth running of the legal department Assisting to ensure the smooth running of the legal department Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the section in order to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environmental attitude. Perform other related duties or assignments as directed. Devise tools to react changes in project plan to realise the interests of the stake holders. Monitor legal expenditure

Skills & Competencies:

Knowledge of additional languages are added advantage Very good knowledge in technical terms and report writing skills Practical marine experience preferably with specific reference to shipyard work. Ability to work independently, lead a small team and supervise others' work where necessary High commercial acumen. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Total strength of the department around 7. Responsible for mitigating risk. Requirement of generalist legal knowledge across a number of jurisdictions. Interaction at different organisational levels. Varied project requirement over different segments of oil and gas / ship building / new building projects.

Minimum Education & Qualifications:

Graduate degree in law in any jurisdiction Post graduate degree in law in any jurisdiction.

Desirable Qualifications (Not Mandatory):

Minimum of 6 year legal work experience preferred in private practice or in-house roles in shipping/ energy company Qualified in a common law jurisdiction (England and Wales preferred) . 8 years legal work experience Admitted to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
