The ideal candidate will have a strong ecological background and experience in applying biodiversity frameworks within industrial, infrastructure, or corporate settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Biodiversity Baselining & Assessment
Conduct ecological surveys and desktop studies to establish biodiversity baselines.
Identify and document key species, habitats, and ecological features using field data and GIS tools.
Conduct no net loss calculations
Assess biodiversity risks and opportunities in line with national regulations and international standards (e.g., IFC PS6, IUCN Red List, TNFD, SBTN).
Wildlife Hazard Management
Identify potential wildlife hazards and risks associated with project activities.
Develop and implement wildlife hazard management plans to minimize conflicts and ensure safety.
Develop strategies and action plans to ensure compliance with wildlife protection laws and ethical standards.
Mitigation Hierarchy Application
Apply the mitigation hierarchy (Avoid, Minimize, Restore, Offset) to biodiversity impacts.
Design and recommend site-specific mitigation and restoration strategies.
Support biodiversity offset planning where applicable, ensuring alignment with best practices.
Strategic Recommendations & Reporting
Develop biodiversity management plans and nature-positive strategies tailored to client needs.
Provide expert recommendations for habitat conservation, restoration, and enhancement.
Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations, and client deliverables.
Support clients in setting biodiversity-related targets and integrating them into ESG frameworks.
Stakeholder Engagement & Capacity Building
Engage with internal teams, clients, regulators, and conservation partners.
Conduct workshops and training sessions to build awareness and capacity on biodiversity issues.
Stay abreast of emerging trends, tools, and policies in biodiversity and nature-based solutions.
Qualifications:
Qualifications & Experience:
Master's degree or higher in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biodiversity Conservation, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in biodiversity assessments, preferably in consulting.
Strong understanding of biodiversity frameworks, ecological survey methods, and mitigation planning.
Experience in wildlife hazard management and application of the mitigation hierarchy.
Proficiency in GIS, remote sensing, and biodiversity data analysis.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and technical writing skills.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP, TNFD).
Experience with biodiversity credits, nature-based solutions, or SBTN methodologies.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work in cross-functional teams.
