Key Tasks and Responsibilities -
Senior IT Strategy / Planning Consultant

  • Overall responsibility for the project, including detailed planning and ensuring execution meets the expected quality standards and timeline.
  • Lead project management activities, including organising and chairing weekly project status meetings with the FAO.
  • Oversee the execution of workstreams and ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs and deliverables.
  • Provide expert guidance on project approach, methodology, and best practices to the project team.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with client expectations.
  • Lead key client meetings and workshops, facilitating discussions and decision-making processes.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for any project issues or risks, proactively managing and resolving challenges.
  • Engage with stakeholders at various levels to maintain strong relationships and ensure project alignment with strategic objectives.
This will involve:
? Articulation of the functional descriptions of PSS Projects teams' responsibilities
? Function and process mapping including interdependencies
? Analysis of current responsibilities and how they are assigned under each function/process
To collect data, following a desk review of the relevant external assessments and PSS information about current divisional objectives and workplan, the consultant team will review PSS Projects teams' workplans and prepare specific surveys to share with team members and team leaders. The results will be reviewed and validated during dedicated meetings/workshops.
Based on the results, the contractor will develop a proposal how to review the PSS Projects teams to better respond to operational needs and increase synergies based on International Organizations best practices. Options for PSS Projects teams review (e.g. functional articulation, structuring, work processes) will be presented during a workshop, including, if applicable, role redistribution and definition of implementation roadmap. FAO will select the most appropriate option or combination of elements of the options presented as most appropriate.
The main deliverable of contractor's work is a final report presenting results of the assessment and options for PSS Projects teams review.
List of Requirements/ Skills -
A. Essential requirements - Senior IT Strategy / Planning Consultant
A1 - Strong experience working within advisory firms (minimum 3 years).
A2 - Relevant experience in process review, assessment, and design of target operating models.
A3 - More than 2 years of experience working for UN agencies/International Organizations and or Public Sector. Familiarity with project support processes.
A4 - Proficiency in English at level C.
B. Expected requirements - Senior IT Strategy / Planning Consultant
B1 - Strong understanding of advisory services, specifically: process analysis and design, design of target operating and organizational models, functional review and business analysis.
B2 - Ability to guide and lead complex advisory projects thanks to knowledge of best practices and relevant trends.
B3 - Understanding of UN systems.
B4 - Ability to manage client relationships and expectations.
B5 - Ability to solve projects issues and risk management.
B6 - Extensive experience working within advisory firms (9+ years).
B7 - Experience working with FAO and the PSS division, with a good understanding of its context and main processes.
