Role Overview
Signant Health is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to join our Enterprise Applications & Services Excellence (EASE) team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and driving operational excellence across our enterprise application ecosystem.
As a Senior Applications Engineer, you will take ownership of critical enterprise applications, lead complex integration initiatives, and serve as a technical mentor to junior team members. You will partner closely with Business Analysts, IT Automation, Infrastructure, and Information Security teams to:

• Own and optimize enterprise applications while serving as the subject matter expert for automation and security initiatives
• Lead complex integration projects and establish best practices across the application portfolio
• Collaborate with specialized teams to ensure applications meet performance, security, and compliance requirements
• Mentor and develop junior engineers while building team capabilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

• Application Ownership & Architecture - Own and manage critical enterprise applications end-to-end, including architecture decisions, configuration management, performance optimization, and lifecycle planning. Lead patches, upgrades, and major deployments with minimal supervision.
• Technical Leadership - Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues. Provide tier 3 support for critical incidents, lead root cause analysis, and implement permanent solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Integration Design & Implementation - Design, develop, and deploy integration solutions between enterprise applications. Identify APIs, establish integration patterns, and ensure solutions align with organizational architectural principles and security requirements.
• Business Partnership - Partner with Business Analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Lead feasibility assessments, provide technical recommendations, and ensure applications deliver measurable business value.
• Automation Collaboration - Serve as the application subject matter expert when collaborating with the IT Automation team on workflow automation initiatives. Provide application-specific requirements, API documentation, and technical guidance to enable automation solutions using Power Platform, N8N, or other automation tools. Identify automation opportunities within managed applications and facilitate their implementation.
• Security Partnership - Collaborate with the Information Security team as the application SME for security assessments, vulnerability remediation, and compliance initiatives. Support security reviews by providing application context, implementing recommended security controls, and ensuring applications adhere to organizational security policies. Escalate security concerns and participate in incident response as needed.
• Mentoring & Knowledge Transfer - Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members. Lead knowledge sharing sessions, conduct code reviews, and help build team capabilities across the application portfolio.
• Documentation & Standards - Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and best practices. Establish and enforce documentation standards across the team.
• Project Participation - Contribute to planning and execution of enterprise application projects. Provide technical estimates, identify risks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver successful outcomes.

Desirable * AI/ML Awareness: Interest or hands-on experience with AI/Machine Learning technologies, with ability to identify opportunities to enhance applications with AI capabilities and collaborate with technical teams on implementation.

• Healthcare/Life Sciences Experience: Experience in healthcare or life sciences industry with understanding of GxP requirements and regulatory compliance frameworks.
• Cloud Platforms: Experience with major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and cloud-native application architectures.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), ITIL, or security domains.
• Global Experience: Experience working with globally distributed teams to deliver cross-functional projects
