The Interior Design Coordinator supports the design team in the planning, coordination, and execution of interior design projects. This role bridges the gap between creative design and project management--ensuring that design concepts are accurately translated into completed spaces on time, within budget, and to quality standards. The coordinator assists with design documentation, material sourcing, vendor communication, and project administration.
Key Responsibilities
Design Support
Assist interior designers and architects in developing design concepts, presentations, and layouts.
Prepare and update design drawings, mood boards, and material sample boards.
Maintain accurate design documentation and specifications.
Research and propose materials, finishes, and furnishings aligned with project themes.
Project Coordination
Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure design intent is maintained throughout the project.
Support the preparation of project schedules, budgets, and procurement lists.
Monitor project progress, report updates, and help resolve on-site design or specification issues.
Administrative Duties
Maintain organized records of samples, product information, and design documentation.
Support proposal preparation, tender documentation, and contract administration.
Coordinate meetings, track deliverables, and ensure timely communication across teams.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
Experience:
2-3 years of experience in an interior design or design coordination role (depending on project complexity).
Familiarity with design processes for commercial or hospitality projects.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), and MS Office.
Strong understanding of design documentation and construction drawings.
Soft Skills:
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client and team collaboration.
Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
