We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrument Engineer to lead and support complex instrumentation projects within our advanced engineering division. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, system design, and firmware development, with a strong background in FPGA, PCB design, and system integration. Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and integration of sophisticated electrical and mechanical instrumentation systems, including FPGA-based solutions and programmable logic controllers.
Develop detailed schematics, PCB layouts, and system architecture using AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and SolidWorks.
Conduct root cause analysis to troubleshoot complex system issues, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Oversee project scheduling, resource allocation, and technical documentation to ensure timely delivery of engineering milestones.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on system design using MATLAB, Simulink, SystemVerilog, Python, C++, Perl, and scripting languages.
Support manufacturing processes by implementing surface mount technology (SMT), soldering techniques, and vision inspection systems.
Perform firmware development for embedded systems utilizing ARM microcontrollers and Arduino platforms.
Apply mechanical knowledge to integrate electrical systems with mechanical components for robust system functionality.
Ensure compliance with industry standards such as NEC regulations while maintaining high-quality engineering practices.
Conduct debugging and testing of electrical circuits with tools such as ohmmeters and signal analyzers to ensure system integrity.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; advanced degrees preferred.
Extensive experience with FPGA development, PCB design (AutoCAD/Revit/MicroStation), and system design using CAD tools.
Proficiency in programming languages including Python, C++, MATLAB, Perl, SystemVerilog, and scripting for automation tasks.
Strong background in electrical systems integration, firmware development, signal processing, and root cause analysis.
Hands-on experience with surface mount technology (SMT), soldering techniques, vision inspection systems, and surface mount assembly processes.
Mechanical knowledge related to system integration using Revit or MicroStation; familiarity with SolidWorks is a plus.
Knowledge of quantum engineering principles is desirable but not mandatory.
Ability to manage project schedules effectively while coordinating multiple technical tasks simultaneously.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on debugging complex electronic or mechanical issues.
Strong communication skills for collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and documenting technical processes.
