Senior Infrastructure Engineer (AWS / SaaS Platform)





First Due, a leading public safety software company, is searching for an experienced

Senior Infrastructure Engineer

to help lead the evolution of our mission-critical SaaS platform. This role will drive

strategic cloud infrastructure projects on AWS

, enhance system reliability, and ensure our services scale seamlessly as we grow. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with a strategic mindset, helping shape the future of our cloud and data architecture.

Key Responsibilities:





Lead and execute strategic infrastructure initiatives

across AWS to ensure scalability, security, and reliability of our production systems.

Design, build, and maintain core infrastructure services

, including networking, compute, storage, and CI/CD pipelines supporting a multi-tenant SaaS environment.

Develop and implement proactive monitoring and alerting systems

to ensure optimal performance and early detection of issues.

Improve observability

through better logging, metrics, and tracing to drive faster root cause analysis and continuous service improvement.

Collaborate with engineering teams

to ensure infrastructure supports fast, safe deployments and high uptime SLAs.

Assist in defining and executing the cloud infrastructure roadmap

, including long-term scalability, cost optimization, and automation goals.

Own and optimize PostgreSQL database operations

, while also evaluating and recommending future data storage and management technologies (e.g., NoSQL, managed data services, or distributed databases).

Enhance disaster recovery, high availability, and incident response strategies

for critical services.

Contribute to security posture improvements

, including IAM design, encryption, network security, and compliance alignment.

Mentor junior team members

and promote best practices for infrastructure-as-code, automation, and cloud governance.

Key Qualifications and Experience



Required:





5-8+ years of hands-on experience in

cloud infrastructure engineering

, including

AWS

services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, ElastiCache, CloudFormation, Lambda, and VPC design. Strong background in

Linux systems administration

and

infrastructure-as-code

(Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible or similar). Proven experience in

monitoring, alerting, and observability tooling

(Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, etc.). Solid understanding of

networking, security best practices, and CI/CD automation

. Experience with

PostgreSQL administration

, performance tuning, and scaling in a cloud environment. Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, Go, etc.). A strategic mindset with the ability to balance innovation, reliability, and operational excellence. Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner with cross-functional teams. A passion for building resilient, automated systems that scale with the business. The initiative to identify and lead improvements in infrastructure efficiency and reliability.

Preferred:





Experience with

Kubernetes

or container orchestration platforms. Knowledge of

data infrastructure

beyond relational databases (e.g., DynamoDB, Redis, or Snowflake). Familiarity with

distributed systems design

and

resilient architectures

. Exposure to

compliance frameworks

(SOC2, ISO27001, HIPAA, NIST 800-53, PCI DSS) and secure infrastructure patterns. Prior experience in

SaaS environments

or other

high-availability production systems
