Job Summary
We are looking for a highly driven Senior IIoT Engineer with strong hands-on experience in industrial data acquisition, edge connectivity, hardware selection, and onsite project execution. The role involves end-to-end ownership of IIoT solution deployment -- from site assessment and architecture design to field execution and integration with application platforms.
The candidate must be comfortable working in industrial environments, interacting with plant teams, configuring field hardware, and collaborating closely with software/application teams.
Key Responsibilities
Site Assessment & Data Acquisition
Visit customer sites to assess industrial assets, measuring devices, PLCs, meters, sensors, and communication readiness.
Identify data points, signal types, protocols, accuracy requirements, sampling rates, and integration feasibility.
Evaluate network availability, power, panel space, environmental constraints, and safety requirements.
Solution Architecture & Design
Design end-to-end IIoT solution architecture including:
Field connectivity
Edge gateways
Data acquisition methods
Network topology
Security and scalability considerations
Prepare technical solution documents, BOM, wiring architecture, and deployment plans.
Select appropriate industrial hardware (gateways, IO modules, converters, antennas, power supplies, enclosures, etc.) for each use case.
Project Execution & Deployment
Execute onsite installation, wiring, commissioning, and validation in coordination with application and cloud teams.
Configure edge devices, protocols, and data pipelines.
Ensure reliable data flow from industrial assets to central platform.
Troubleshoot field-level communication, signal quality, latency, and stability issues.
Maintain documentation for deployment, configuration, and handover.
Programming & Integration
Develop and maintain data collection scripts and services using Python.
Interface with industrial protocols such as Modbus, OPC-UA, MQTT, REST APIs, Serial, TCP/IP, etc.
Implement buffering, retry mechanisms, logging, and basic data validation at edge level.
Hardware & Communication Enablement
Select and implement suitable communication technologies based on use case:
Ethernet, RS485, RS232
Wi-Fi, Cellular (4G/5G)
BLE, RFID, LoRa
Design reliable power and grounding strategies for industrial deployments.
Collaboration & Support
Work closely with application, analytics, and product teams to align field data with platform requirements.
Support pilots, PoCs, customer demos, and scale deployments.
Provide technical training and support to internal teams and customers.
Required Skills & Experience
3-5 years of hands-on experience in IIoT / Industrial Automation / Embedded / Field Engineering.
Strong experience in onsite project execution in industrial environments.
Solid knowledge of:
Industrial sensors, meters, PLCs, drives, machines
Industrial communication protocols
Networking fundamentals (IP addressing, routing basics, firewalls, VPN concepts)
Hands-on programming experience in Python for data collection and integration.
Experience selecting and integrating industrial hardware and gateways.
Ability to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
Strong troubleshooting skills in field environments.
Good to Have (Plus Skills)
Hands-on experience with RFID, BLE, or other wireless IIoT technologies.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP IoT).
Experience with containerization or edge platforms.
Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for OT environments.
Exposure to MES, EMS, SCADA, or Manufacturing systems.
