The opportunity
Develop and Implement Safety Management Systems: Design, establish, and continuously improve safety policies, procedures, and programs in line with local regulations and Toll Logistics' global standards.
Conduct Risk Assessments and Audits: Regularly perform comprehensive risk assessments, safety inspections, and audits across all warehouse operations to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
Lead Accident and Incident Investigations: Spearhead thorough investigations of all safety incidents, near misses, and accidents, determining root causes and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
Manage MHE Operator Training: Develop and deliver engaging and effective training modules for all Material Handling Equipment (MHE) operators, covering safe operation, pre-use checks, and incident response. Ensure all operators are certified and re-certified as per company policy and regulatory requirements.
Promote a Strong Safety Culture: Champion safety awareness and best practices among all employees through regular communications, campaigns, and proactive engagement.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of all relevant safety legislation, industry standards, and company policies, ensuring the warehouses remain fully compliant.
Oversee Safety Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor key safety performance indicators (KPIs), analyze trends, and report on safety performance to senior management.
Manage Safety Documentation and Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all safety training, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
Coordinate Emergency Response: Develop and implement effective emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness.
Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with warehouse management, operations teams, HR, and external regulatory bodies to integrate safety into all aspects of the business.
Lead Safety Committees: Establish and facilitate safety committees, promoting employee involvement and feedback in safety initiatives.
Manage Safety Equipment and PPE: Oversee the procurement, inspection, and maintenance of all safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Experience in a similar role in Logistics & Supply Chain industry
A minimum of 10+ years of experience in Safety Management, with a proven track record in developing and implementing robust safety programs and achieving measurable reductions in incident rates.
