The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects for Australian clients. This role plays a key part in the tendering process, from early design cost planning through to final tender submission. The position requires strong experience in Australian commercial construction, advanced proficiency in
Cubit Estimating software
, and a solid understanding of local market rates, subcontractor procurement, and Australian Standards.

Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Cost Planning
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions for commercial construction projects
Complete detailed quantity take-offs and pricing using
Cubit Estimating software
Review architectural, structural, and services drawings and specifications to ensure full scope coverage
Develop and maintain cost plans through concept, schematic, and detailed design stages
Identify discrepancies, omissions, and constructability issues within documentation
Tendering & Procurement
Manage the end-to-end tender process in accordance with Australian construction practices
Call, scope, and assess subcontractor and supplier pricing
Analyse and normalise subcontractor tenders to ensure scope alignment
Prepare trade comparison reports and recommendations
Coordinate tender queries and clarifications with consultants and clients
Commercial & Risk Management
Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
Prepare and justify contingencies, provisional sums, and allowances
Provide input into construction methodology and preliminaries pricing
Assist with post-tender negotiations and contract award processes
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum
7-10 years' experience
as an Estimator working
remotely
for an
Australian commercial builder
Demonstrated experience delivering tenders for projects typically valued from
$1M+
(adjustable as required)
Advanced, hands-on experience with
Cubit Estimating software
(essential)
Qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a relevant background
Knowledge & Skills
Strong knowledge of Australian construction methods, materials, and market rates
Sound understanding of Australian Standards, NCC, and WHS requirements
High level of accuracy, numeracy, and attention to detail
Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict tender deadlines
Software & Systems
Cubit Estimating (advanced proficiency required)
Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with estimating databases and document control systems (desirable)
