Role Overview



The Senior Estimation Engineer will lead cost estimation, pricing and bid preparation for fabrication projects. The role requires strong technical, commercial, and analytical capabilities to support tenders, proposals, and strategic decision-making. This position will manage estimations end-to-end, coordinate with internal departments, interface with clients, and evaluate project performance to ensure competitive and accurate bids.

The ideal candidate must be based in India and willing to relocate/work in the UAE.

Key ResponsibilitiesEstimation & Cost Engineering



Develop detailed, accurate, and fully auditable cost estimates for fabrication projects (structural steel, piping, maritime, modular works). Establish estimating methodologies, productivity norms, cost models, and assumptions. Review and validate quantity take-offs, material take-offs, man-hours, and cost build-up sheets. Ensure compliance with client specifications, ITPs, and internal governance requirements. Prepare strategic estimation plans based on project complexity and client expectations.

Bid & Tender Management



Serve as the technical lead for all bid and tender activities. Conduct bid reviews, margin assessments, and value-engineering evaluations. Support bid/no-bid recommendations through clear technical and commercial analysis. Prepare pricing notes, clarifications, exclusions, and deviations. Participate in client discussions, negotiations, and clarifications when required.

Commercial & Risk Analysis



Identify and quantify risks related to design scope, constructability, production constraints, procurement, logistics, and scheduling. Develop risk registers, contingency estimates, and mitigation strategies. Evaluate historical data and lessons learned to refine cost accuracy. Support sensitivity analysis, scenario modelling, and profitability assessments.

Cross-Functional Collaboration



Work closely with Engineering, Procurement, Materials, and Production teams to validate assumptions and ensure realistic execution plans. Coordinate with procurement teams to confirm material prices, lead times, and market volatility. Align estimates with yard/fabrication capacities and workforce availability. Participate in smooth handover of awarded jobs to execution teams with clear scope, assumptions, and risks.

Governance & Continuous Improvement



Maintain standardized templates, estimating procedures, and documentation systems. Ensure all estimates are traceable, transparent, and audit-ready. Lead post-award and post-execution reviews to evaluate estimate accuracy vs. actual performance. Train, mentor, and guide junior estimators. Drive continuous improvement in estimating, cost control, and commercial operations.

Qualifications & Experience



Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, or related Engineering fields. 10+ years of experience in estimation, cost engineering, or commercial roles in fabrication/EPC/heavy industry. Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, man-hour norms, and cost drivers. Experience in preparing, leading, and submitting large-scale bids and tenders. Strong commercial acumen, financial understanding, and risk-based thinking. Familiarity with estimating tools, spreadsheets, ERP/Costing software, and industry standards.
