The Engineering R & D function at Medtronic Engineering & Innovation Centre ( MEIC), Hyderabad encompasses design, development, and Verification - testing activities during NPD and Sustaining- RPE phases of product development support/ during turnkey NPD Projects for the GBUs. The function is accountable for both design and design transfer support for a product under development. It entails, but is not limited to, activities commonly carried out during the product development process.

This Sr Engineering Supervisor (R & D) will serve as a lead working on the requirements, Mechanical Design for NPD, and Sustenance of Medtronic Products.

A Day in the Life

• The Sr Engineering Supervisor (R & D) would be accountable to sustain and enhance the Engineering function (Development & Verification) for the engagements at MEIC. This individual would be accountable to ensure superior performance and delivery to the Global Business Units (GBU)/ SBUs. The role would report to the Engineering Manager at MEIC.
• The role requirement would also encompass collaboration with the Program Manager for the engagement at MEIC, US-based GBU - R & D Leaders& Program Management Leaders for expanding new product development and sustenance engineering engagements with the businesses.
• The individual would work collaboratively with the project management function and align with other cross functions as necessary.
• The role requirement for the current & potential engagements with BUs would require: Product development experience with experience at a junior management level of leading R & D team background in Mechanical engineering.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• A bachelor's in engineering Degree - Mechanical /Production/Automobile engineering
• Minimum of 12 years of applicable work experience in a product development
• People management experience desirable: 2 years exp in a Managerial role leading teams in Mechanical design and sustenance engineering project;
• Minimum 4 years' experience in medical device R & D function;
• Experience in working with Global team environment specific to Mechanical design/Mechatronics Product development;
• Rich experience in product engineering including Mechanical Design for NPD/ Sustenance/ Analysis;
• Prior experience in a large MNC on technical Managerial roles is preferred;
• Medical device upstream R&D experience would be a plus;
• Prior experience on design & developement of surgical instruments would be a plus
• Demonstrated expertise in the field of product development and product engineering;
• Proven track record identifying and executing complex engineering projects;
• Ability to build and lead a new department within a large, diverse MNC; includes strategic development and implementation;
• Ability to author policies, and procedures and coach new employees;
• Critical Experience in Material of Concerns
• The position requires a highly collaborative individual with an understanding of the environment, processes and tools required for efficient and effective delivery of innovative and high-performance medical devices and health care provider solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, negotiating; managing change; goal setting; planning and organizing teamwork; ability to address difficult situations;
• Must possess managerial courage; must be confident managing risks and making decisions that will likely have a large impact on organizational objectives;
• Must have leadership skills and personal strength to protect projects from unsubstantial change requests while ensuring project focus remains in place;
• Up to 25 % travel internationally and domestic

Job Responsibilities

• The individual would also be responsible for directing efforts in sustaining & enhancing domain verticals in Mechanical engineering. The individual shall be able to guide engineers (41 to 43) with diverse skill sets and technology competence.
• The individual will lead the Product team at Hyderabad, will work closely with the Global business also work closely with project management and other cross-functional teams at Hyderabad and Global.
