Responsibilities

Manage 1 or more teams of software, data & reliability engineers - between 5 and 10 people in total Create a culture of ownership and technical excellence, leading by example Empower engineers to develop their careers by providing ad-hoc applicable coaching Help building and enriching an inclusive work environment comprised of people from diverse backgrounds Contribute to projects by guiding architectural discussions, providing technical coaching to software engineers and occasionally getting hands-on with coding Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes to both supervise health and allow continuous improvement Provide technical guidance to both your team members and your project peers Drive team efforts to establish bottom-up projects and roadmaps supporting our vision Collaborate closely with the team in Amsterdam to drive the delivery of common goals Drive initiatives to reduce operational workload, introduce monitoring at scale, and improve debugging, testing, validation, and data quality for production-ready data products. Oversee infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations, and cost optimization for data products, while ensuring golden metrics and operational run metrics owned by the experimentation track are consistently delivered.

Qualifications

15+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering within the technology sector. Experience in shaping and leading a software engineering function across multiple products or business areas (5+ years as a senior manager) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field or 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the specialty as equivalent Proven experience in managing multiple teams, either directly or indirectly (via managers or team leads). Demonstrable experience in shaping and leading software engineering functions Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and cooperate with people at all levels Experience in working on products with a large customer base and company wide impact Experience in designing and architecting APIs, dealing with high traffic and security concerns Strong Coding & System design skills with ability to get hands-on with your team if needed You are a humble and thoughtful technology leader, you lead by example and gain your teammates' respect through actions, not the title Experience in managing platform teams related to data products is a plus Experience working with teams located in different timezones is a plus Experience with experimentation, statistics and A/B testing is a plus
