Job Summary:
FTSE Russell, a leader in global indexing and analytics, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic team of software engineers and build robust, scalable applications that support trillions in assets. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of software development, financial and capital markets, a strong track record of team leadership, and the ability to drive complex projects to successful completion.
As the Software Engineering Manager, you will manage and mentor developers, oversee engineering and automation projects, and ensure solutions meet technical and business requirements.
You will be responsible for overseeing the software development lifecycle, ensuring the team is delivering high-quality software on time, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
As an hands-on Engineer, you'll build with purpose -- solving real-world problems with measurable impact.Design, build, and scale custom platform used by global financial institutions. Develop clean, efficient, and secure backend code in C++ (real-time) and C#/.NET (service layer) that can be migrated to cloud-native architectures. Create intuitive, responsive UIs using Angular and modern JavaScript frameworks. Implement RESTful APIs, microservices, and automated CI/CD pipelines for rapid delivery. Work with big data systems and databases like SQL Server, Sybase, and PostgreSQL. Contribute to code reviews, mentor peers, and help shape a world-class engineering culture. Partner with global teams to define new solutions across cloud, data, and analytics. Analyze production problems & provide troubleshooting & support. Work with upstream and downstream development teams to implement functionality. Work with QA teams to design test cases and to implement automated test drivers. Promote a culture of teamwork, high performance and quality via code reviews, ensuring standards and best practices are followed via agile methodologies. Communicate with clarity, precision, and influence, presenting complex information in a clear and concise format that is appropriate for the audience Drive a culture of engineering excellence through mentorship, peer reviews, and promoting standard methodologies in software design and development Helps in recruitment/setting up of teams through interviewing and identifying different skill sets required to deliver the project successfully

Tech Stack You'll Work OnBackend: C++, C#/.NET, SQL, RESTful APIs, microservices Cloud: AWS (EC2, Lambda, Glue, EKS, SQS, SNS) Databases: SQL Server, Sybase, PostgreSQL Testing: MSTest, BDD tools (Cucumber, Mocha) CI/CD: Gitlab, Jenkins, Terraform
