Job Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership

• Drive Technical Strategy: Collaborate with US-based Product teams to execute the technical roadmap for both DevCon and DevOps platforms, ensuring alignment with Marriott's broader technology vision
• Architecture Oversight: Partner with US teams to guide architectural decisions for enterprise-scale platforms handling environment provisioning, CI/CD pipelines, and developer tooling
• Innovation Champion: Support the adoption of emerging technologies including AI/ML integration, agentic AI capabilities, and cloud-native architectures as defined by product strategy
• Technical Excellence: Implement and maintain engineering standards, best practices, and design patterns across both teams in alignment with US-defined guidelines
• Hands-on Problem Solving: Dive deep into complex technical challenges when needed, demonstrating technical credibility and supporting your teams

People Management

• Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop 11 engineers across DevCon and DevOps teams in the MTA office
• Performance Management: Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning for all team members
• Talent Development: Build a strong engineering culture focused on continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence
• Recruitment & Growth: Lead hiring efforts to scale both teams with top-tier engineering talent
• Culture Building: Foster a collaborative, inclusive environment that encourages knowledge sharing and innovation

Operational Excellence

• Day-to-Day Operations: Oversee daily engineering activities, ensuring teams meet sprint commitments and delivery timelines
• Escalation Management: Handle critical escalations, working with teams to resolve production issues and minimize business impact
• IST Hours Coordination: Manage engineering operations during IST business hours, ensuring appropriate coverage and support
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other teams operating in IST hours to ensure smooth handoffs and integrated solutions
• 24/7 Support Strategy: Develop and maintain on-call rotations and incident response procedures for both platforms

Strategic Partnership

• US Office Collaboration: Partner tightly with Product Managers and Product Owners in the US office to align on product strategy and roadmaps
• Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across Marriott's technology organization
• Executive Communication: Present platform updates, metrics, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership
• Cross-team Integration: Facilitate collaboration between DevCon and DevOps teams to create unified developer experiences.

Technical Domains You'll Oversee
DevCon (Internal Developer Portal)

• Platform serving as single pane of glass for thousands of Marriott developers
• Self-service automation for cloud infrastructure provisioning
• AI Chat capabilities and emerging agentic AI functionality
• Tech Stack: Vite, Python FastAPI, AWS Step Functions, Terraform Cloud

DevOps Platform

• Enterprise-scale CI/CD pipelines supporting thousands of applications
• Cloud infrastructure across AWS and AliCloud
• Industry-leading Harness.io implementation
• Containerization and microservices architecture at scale

Skill and Experience:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in engineering leadership roles
• Technical Depth: Hands-on experience with modern cloud platforms (AWS required, AliCloud preferred), infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines
• Platform Engineering: Proven track record building or leading teams that build developer platforms, internal tools, or DevOps infrastructure
• Programming Expertise: Strong proficiency in Python, with additional experience in Go, Terraform/HCL, and shell scripting
• People Leadership: Experience managing engineering teams of 5+ engineers, preferably across multiple time zones
• Operational Excellence: Demonstrated ability to manage 24/7 production systems with high availability requirements
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences

Technical Skills
Must Have:

• Python, Terraform, AWS
• CI/CD platforms (Harness.io strongly preferred)
• Container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Infrastructure as Code principles
• RESTful API design and microservices architecture
• Production troubleshooting and incident management

Preferred:
