The Senior Project Engineer plays a central role in coordinating, supervising, and executing construction projects from planning to completion. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery, cost control, safety compliance, and quality assurance across all project stages.
Prepare detailed project schedules, work breakdown structures, and resource allocation plans.
Study drawings, specifications, and BOQs to ensure clear understanding of project scope.
Coordinate with architects, structural consultants, MEP teams, vendors, and subcontractors.
Assist in preparing project budgets and monitoring resource utilization.
2. Site Execution & Supervision
Lead day-to-day site activities and ensure smooth execution as per approved drawings and standards.
Oversee construction teams, subcontractors, and support staff to ensure productivity.
Monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and take timely corrective actions.
Ensure proper implementation of quality control procedures throughout all phases of construction.
3. Quality Assurance & Compliance
Enforce adherence to engineering standards, safety norms, and company policies.
Conduct regular site inspections and material quality checks.
Ensure that all works meet NABL/MORTH/IS codes and client specifications.
Maintain documentation for audits and compliance reports.
4. Material & Vendor Management
Prepare and review material requisitions as per project requirements.
Coordinate with procurement teams for timely delivery of materials.
Verify vendor bills, subcontractor measurements, and ensure proper documentation.
Maintain material inventory and reduce wastage at site.
5. Client & Stakeholder Management
Attend project review meetings and update clients on progress.
Resolve technical queries raised by clients, consultants, and authorities.
Support the Project Manager in preparing project status reports, RFI submissions, and approvals.
6. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain DPR (Daily Progress Report), WPR (Weekly), and MPR (Monthly) reports.
Record labour deployment, material consumption, delays, and site constraints.
Prepare as-built drawings and handover documentation upon completion.
Skills & Competencies Required
Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and construction methodologies.
Expertise in reading drawings, specifications, and estimating quantities.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project / Primavera, and MS Office tools.
Strong leadership, team coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple site activities.
Excellent communication and client-handling abilities.
In-depth understanding of safety protocols, quality standards, and statutory regulations.
Educational & Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
(preferred).
6-12 years of experience
in construction projects (residential, commercial) Proven experience handling site engineering responsibilities independently.
Experience leading teams and managing subcontractors is a strong advantage.
