Role: Sr. Engineer - Power System Consulting
We are looking for an electrical engineer who is passionate about the field of electrical engineering and possesses strong academic and practical knowledge of various aspects of power system studies. You will be responsible for providing electrical power system consulting and engineering support services to various clients around the world, using power system software such as ETAP, PSCAD, CDEGS, or equivalent software, along with other engineering tools. Your responsibilities will include performing power system analysis, designing and reviewing electrical systems, and troubleshooting electrical site issues and tripping incidents.
Develop the technical competency of junior team members to cater to the project requirements and provide technical and performance oversight for members of the project team. Ensure the application of relevant international standards and engineering knowledge in various projects. Be responsible for the preparation of a detailed study report based on the simulation & analysis and lead the engineering effort for the project.
Manage selected projects, project tasks/responsibilities as assigned, and/or design processes (or parts of projects) to meet agreed-upon budget, quality, and timeframe targets. Deliver fully documented designs to meet client objectives and adhere to ETAP quality system requirements.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Candidates having proven expertise in at least two of the following will be preferredLeading and executing engineering studies in one or more of the following areas:
Power System Studies: Including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, transient stability, relay coordination, arc flash, harmonic analysis, and renewable energy systems (solar, wind, and battery energy storage).
Electromagnetic Switching Transient Studies: studies covering insulation coordination studies, lightning surge impact and GIS switching analysis.
Electromagnetic Interference (EMI/EMC) Studies: Addressing interference issues in complex electrical environments such as Oil & gas plants, railways etc. Utilizing advanced simulation tools such as ETAP, PSCAD, CDEGS, or equivalent software to perform detailed analyses. Internal
Providing engineering recommendations for the design, operation, and optimization of electrical systems based on study outcomes, ensuring alignment with industry standards (IEC/IEEE) and client requirements.
Reviewing electrical systems including power distribution networks, industrial control systems, and renewable energy installations, ensuring compliance with international standards such as IEC and IEEE.
Managing project scope ensuring timely completion of deliverables within allocated manhours.
Troubleshooting electrical issues such as system tripping, site incidents, and equipment failures, and offering technical support to clients for effective resolution.
Responding to technical queries from clients on project reports and providing clear, accurate, and timely information.
Preparing and delivering professional reports, presentations, and workshops tailored to project requirements and client expectations.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills To be eligible for this position, you should have:A bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering or a related field is required from a recognized university or institution.
At least 10 years of experience in power system study projects, preferably in a consulting environment, is required. Consulting experience in Middle East projects is preferred.
Proficiency in the fundamental principles of electrical engineering and knowledge of electrical products and their workings is necessary.
Hands on experience in conducting electrical system studies covering: o Power system studies. These include Load flow, short circuit, Motor Start, Transient Stability, Relay Co-ordination, Arc Flash, Harmonic Analysis, Reliability studies, o Electromagnetic switching transient (Insulation co-ordination studies). o EMI/EMC studies.
Also, knowledge/exposure to renewable energy source studies (Solar/Wind) covering FACT devices such as SVC, STATCOM, active filters etc., and on grid interconnected battery & energy storage system, grid integrated renewable generation, grid connected inverters, inverter dynamics will be preferred.
Experience of using ETAP/PSCAD/CDEGS/PSSE software or equivalent software for carrying out the power system studies.
Excellent mathematical skills applied in engineering calculations.
Organizational skills and proactive approach in project management.Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
Computer skills related to creation of reports and presentations in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint are necessary.
Good communication and report writing skills. Internal
Ability to work independently and as part of the team. It would be preferable if you also have:
Knowledge of Python, MATLAB coding etc.
Experience in the design and implementation of renewable energy systems.
