The Senior Civil Engineer will oversee end-to-end planning, execution, and management of civil construction projects. The role involves supervising site activities, ensuring quality and safety compliance, coordinating with contractors/clients, managing resources, and delivering projects within the stipulated timelines and budgets. The candidate must possess strong technical knowledge and leadership skills.
Prepare and review project plans, schedules, and work breakdown structures.
Coordinate with clients, consultants, architects, and internal teams for smooth execution.
Plan manpower, material, and equipment requirements.
Evaluate project feasibility and assist in budgeting and cost control.
2. Execution & Site Management
Supervise and monitor daily site work to ensure adherence to drawings, specifications, and standards.
Oversee work of junior engineers, supervisors, contractors, and subcontractors.
Inspect construction activities to ensure quality workmanship.
Resolve site issues and provide technical guidance whenever required.
3. Technical & Engineering Responsibilities
Interpret structural and architectural drawings accurately.
Review design changes, RFIs, deviation reports, and provide technical solutions.
Ensure work complies with IS codes, industry standards, and statutory norms.
Evaluate structural aspects and ensure implementation of engineering best practices.
4. Quality Control & Assurance
Conduct material inspections, approve samples, and verify supplier quality.
Monitor concrete quality, reinforcement placement, shuttering, finishing works, etc.
Maintain quality documentation such as checklists, inspection reports, and test reports.
Identify defects and implement corrective/preventive measures.
5. Safety Management
Ensure strict implementation of safety protocols and site safety rules.
Coordinate with the safety team to conduct toolbox talks and safety audits.
Monitor safe usage of equipment, scaffolding, PPE, and work methods.
6. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly progress reports.
Maintain DPRs, WIRs, MIRs, site logs, and material consumption reports.
Update management on project progress, risks, delays, and solutions.
Track project costs and assist in billing preparation and client certifications.
7. Material & Resource Management
Ensure timely availability of materials as per project schedule.
Verify quantity requirements, stock levels, and consumption patterns.
Approve material requisitions and coordinate with procurement teams.
8. Team Leadership
Mentor junior engineers, supervisors, and skilled team members.
Conduct site meetings with contractors and internal teams.
Assign responsibilities and ensure productivity and work discipline.
Skills & Competencies Required
Strong knowledge of civil construction methods and site execution.
Proficiency in
AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Project/Primavera
(preferred).
Good analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and team management abilities.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
Preferred Industry Experience
Building construction (residential/commercial/industrial).
Infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, structures - as applicable).
Contractor or developer-side experience.
