To ensure effective implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, standards, and procedures on the WTP project site. The role focuses on promoting a strong safety culture, preventing incidents, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
1. HSE Planning & Implementation
Develop and implement site-specific
HSE plans
, risk assessments, and method statements.
Conduct
Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
and ensure work permits are issued properly.
Ensure compliance with statutory safety laws and company HSE policies.
2. Site Supervision & Inspection
Conduct
daily safety inspections
of site operations -- excavation, lifting, confined space, chemical handling, etc.
Identify unsafe acts/conditions and take immediate corrective actions.
Monitor usage of
PPE
, scaffolding safety, electrical safety, and machinery safety.
3. Training & Awareness
Conduct
toolbox talks
, safety inductions, and refresher training for workers and supervisors.
Arrange
emergency drills
(fire, chemical spill, confined space rescue).
Promote safety awareness through campaigns, posters, and HSE meetings.
4. Incident Management
Lead
incident/accident investigations
, identify root causes, and prepare reports.
Ensure all near-miss incidents are recorded and analyzed for prevention.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain all statutory and project-specific HSE records (inspections, audits, permits).
Prepare
daily/weekly/monthly HSE performance reports

Support internal and client HSE audits and ensure closure of non-conformities.
6. Coordination
Coordinate with client HSE representatives, subcontractors, and project team members.
Ensure subcontractors adhere to company and client HSE requirements.
7. Environmental Compliance
Ensure safe disposal of waste, control of effluent discharge, and management of hazardous materials.
Monitor environmental parameters like water quality, dust, and noise levels.

Diploma/Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Civil/Chemical)
Certification
NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA / Safety Diploma (mandatory)
Experience
5-10 years total experience, with minimum 5 years in WTP/WWTP/EPC projects
Knowledge
OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001, Environment regulations, Work at Height, Confined Space Safety, Chemical Handling Safety
Zero Lost Time Injuries (LTI)
Compliance with HSE plan and statutory norms
Timely incident reporting and closure
Training hours per employee per month
