- Senior Electrician / Assistant Electrician

Location:

Chennai (Electric Bus Depot)

GreenCell (Site/Depot Manager)

1. Position:

Senior Electrician

Assistant Electrician

2. Job Purpose:

To perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems, EV charging infrastructure, and depot electrical equipment to ensure smooth and safe operations of electric buses.

3. Key Responsibilities:A. Electrical Maintenance & Operations

Carry out routine maintenance of electrical panels, transformers, switchgear, DBs, and wiring. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for EV chargers, DG sets, UPS, batteries, and depot lighting systems. Monitor and maintain electrical load distribution within the depot. Attend breakdowns and resolve electrical faults quickly to avoid bus operation delays.

B. EV Charging System Management

Operate and monitor EV charging stations and charging points. Report charging issues to GreenCell technical team and follow escalation procedures. Maintain proper logs of charging activities and system performance.

C. Safety Compliance

Ensure all electrical work complies with safety standards and statutory norms. Use proper PPE and follow depot safety protocols. Conduct basic safety checks before energizing equipment.

D. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain maintenance records, log sheets, and service reports. Report daily activities and issues to the Depot Manager/GreenCell team. Support in vendor coordination for major repairs.

4. Qualifications & ExperienceSenior Electrician

ITI / Diploma in Electrical Minimum

5-8 years

of experience in electrical maintenance (preferably in EV, industrial, or commercial facilities). Knowledge of HT/LT systems, EV chargers, and electrical safety.

Assistant Electrician

ITI (Electrical)

1-3 years

of experience in electrical maintenance. Basic knowledge of wiring, cabling, and equipment installation.

5. Skills Required

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills Knowledge of electrical panels, motors, and control systems Understanding of EV charging infrastructure (added advantage) Ability to work in shifts Good communication and reporting skills

6. Working Conditions

Depot-based work Rotational shifts Coordination with GreenCell team and depot operations team
