Supervise, perform, and coordinate the installation, maintenance, and repair of hospital electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, backup generators, fire alarms, and medical equipment connections.
Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues and provide prompt corrective action to minimize downtime.
Interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical codes.
Ensure all work complies with local and national electrical codes, hospital protocols, and safety standards.
Maintain documentation for electrical systems, inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
Collaborate with biomedical engineering, HVAC, plumbing, and IT departments to ensure integrated system functionality.
Lead and mentor junior electricians and maintenance technicians.
Assist in planning and budgeting for electrical projects and upgrades.
Support emergency response readiness for electrical faults, power outages, and critical systems failure.
Participate in regular inspections and safety audits.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship program.
Valid Electrician License/Certification (State or National, as required).
Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience, preferably in a healthcare or commercial facility.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, tools, testing equipment, and applicable codes (NEC, NFPA 99, etc.).
Familiarity with hospital systems such as nurse call, medical gas alarm panels, UPS, and emergency generators.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
Proficient in using electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills.
Working Conditions:
May require on-call duty, night shifts, and weekend work.
Physically demanding: requires climbing ladders, lifting equipment, working in tight spaces, and standing for long periods.
Exposure to electrical hazards and hospital environmental conditions.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with hospital-grade electrical systems and standards (e.g., isolation panels, redundant power systems).
