Job Description

:

An Electrical Technician in a restaurant ensures the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of all electrical systems. This includes routine inspections, emergency repairs, and preventive maintenance to support kitchen appliances, lighting, HVAC systems, point-of-sale (POS) terminals, and other critical electrical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical systems--including wiring, circuits, lighting, receptacles, and kitchen equipment. Install, upgrade, and regularly inspect electrical fixtures, panels, and wiring to ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards. Conduct preventive maintenance programs to optimize system reliability and reduce downtime. Respond swiftly to electrical emergencies, e.g., equipment failures or outlets not functioning. Maintain detailed records of service, repairs, and parts inventory. Stay up-to-date with technological improvements in restaurant power systems and safety equipment.

Required Qualifications

Certification as a licensed electrician, electrical technician, or equivalent trade-level credential Proven experience--ideally 2-5 years--with wiring, electrical troubleshooting, installations, and maintenance (preferably within commercial or food-service environments). Skilled in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Familiarity with kitchen systems (e.g., refrigeration, ovens, ventilation). Proficient using electrical tools--multimeters, cable testers, circuit tracers, etc. Excellent communication skills, teamwork orientation, and a strong safety mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

Formal degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field. Experience working directly in restaurant or hospitality electrical maintenance.
