Job Description


Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers Microsoft's cloud services. The team is responsible for designing, building, and operating our unified global datacenters, managing the demand planning and capacity utilization of our unified infrastructure, and responsible for all of the operations needed to run the physical infrastructure (including supply chain, hardware, power, security, and workflow teams).


The CO + I Infrastructure Supply Chain team is looking for an experienced Equipment Quality Manager with a proven track record and passion for driving equipment quality and process improvements at scale. Your job is to own and drive equipment quality and manufacturing quality process improvements with internal stakeholders and external suppliers. You will work with a global team to streamline equipment inspection and testing, specification deviations and own relationships with many stakeholders including suppliers and engineering partners. You must be very detail oriented, data driven, hands-on, and can trouble shoot complex logical problems.

You have deep passion for solving technical problems, excellence in data analysis, out of box thinking solutions to resolve complex issues. You are a great investigator and comfortable working with many layers in a large corporation. You are tenacious in unearthing risks and mitigate them proactively, engaging whoever you need for support to do this.
Strong problem-solving skills, knowledge of engineering and or manufacturing processes and quality systems / tools balanced with technical knowledge are critical to success.

Responsibilities

  • Drive electrical equipment quality improvement initiatives for India region.
  • Be the champion for quality cultural change by applying lessons learned and instituting permanent controls for sustained change.
  • Partner with engineering, construction, and the suppliers to identify equipment quality gaps and institute controls.
  • Identify equipment specification and test procedure gaps for early detection of issues, Partner with engineering and the suppliers on better designs to prevent failures.
  • Assess supplier’s equipment quality and manufacturing processes to ensure that they meet Microsoft requirements, identify gaps and work with the suppliers to mitigate those gaps.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on high impact complex technical problems, identify trends, forecast risks, and take proactive steps to prevent similar occurrences.

Qualifications


Knowledge, experience, and skills:
Success in this role will require a high degree of collaboration, critical thinking, and process design expertise. The successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent degree.
  • 7+ years of professional level experience in electrical power distribution products - Low/Medium voltage switchgears, and/or UPS.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of professional level experience in the data center industry is a plus.
  • Strong technical knowhow (Subject matter expert) of the equipment.
  • Experience leading cross functional team of engineering, manufacturing, operations, and suppliers to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
  • Ability to coach, train, and support suppliers to improve their processes.
  • Drives through ambiguity, self-motivated and thrives on minimal supervision. Sound judgment, decision-making skills, and ability to work under continual deadline pressure in an extremely volatile and high paced environment.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
