Akamai's Engineering Learning team seeks an Instructional Designer with 5 to 8 years of instructional design experience in a technical domain, such as engineering, software, or IT. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and evaluating learning solutions to improve onboarding and continuous education for engineering staff.

Partner with the best

Design, develop, deploy, and evaluate learning materials using effective Instructional Design methodologies. Collaborate with the Learning team to identify training needs, propose solutions, and develop programs. Create comprehensive materials, engaging content, and facilitate effective training to enhance staff proficiency. Support organizational learning and development initiatives to promote operational excellence.


As a Senior Documentation and Training Specialist, you will be responsible for


Collaborating with Training Leads to develop impactful learning solutions and training plans for engineering programs. Identifying audience-specific training needs through collaboration with subject matter experts across technical domains. Creating engaging materials using instructional design methodologies, including e-Leanings, videos, simulations, games, and role plays. Creating storyboards, visualizing graphics, developing courses, validating objectives, and managing content review processes. Ensuring deliverables meet timelines and quality standards while accepting additional responsibilities as assigned. Mentoring junior team members, supporting community learning, and maintaining expertise in assigned technical areas.

To be successful in this role you will:


5+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree in any discipline (Communication, Literature, Journalism, CS or Humanities) Apply instructional design techniques utilizing adult learning principles effectively. Have working knowledge of e-learning and video production tools like Articulate 360, Captivate, Camtasia and Audacity Be well-versed with learning methodologies and strategies, especially around storytelling, micro learning, and simulations Have an ability to handle complex technical subjects - cloud, networking, and software development frameworks
