Role: Senior Director - Practice & Strategy (Chief Software Architect)

Harman Automotive is looking for a motivated and passionate Technology professional to support business development, competency development and improve Software quality. Role requires understanding of Harman products and services portfolio and ability to take our go-to-market strategy in a compelling way in customer pursuits. Plan and implement sales and development programs, both short and long range, targeted toward existing and new markets.

Key Accountabilities

Practice (Center of Competencies)

  • Define common Information structure of Practice artefacts in collaboration with Practice Leads and Practice Admin
  • Define and discuss generic practice targets and metrics and approval of practice specific artefacts and targets
  • Review and pre-approval of investment plan; Discuss and approve investment plans with AES BU head
  • Validate practice plans and progress
  • Manage the resolution of Practices\' external dependencies
  • Provide assessment of Practice achievements based on metrics. Maintain and report metrics on practice progress and practice usage
  • Tracking of investment (CAPEX/OPEX) spent against budget and practice
  • Define and maintain value proposition and (incl. IP-based) service offerings based on industry intelligence, customer demands and internal engagements, and maintain a corresponding L1 Deck
  • Create and maintain practice roadmap/investment plan with quarterly updates
  • Knowledge base on teams space e.g. on best practices, HARMAN IP, key contacts in HARMAN and customers, technologies, standards and trends, \xe2\x80\xa6
  • Conduct or arrange knowledge sharing sessions, facilitate practice communities
  • Conduct Sales training and provide material to be turned into collaterals by presales and marketing
  • Contribute to / review white papers / case study list provided by presales team
PreSales
  • Formulating and leading technical / functional solution during presales activity to prospective clients and customers.
  • Collaborate with technical & business team members, who may only have a vague understanding of their need, to co-create a plan for executing a quality bid response.
  • Facilitation of client RFx understanding through presentations demonstrations and benchmarks; provision of support throughout the sell
  • Developing long lasting and high-quality business relationships with clients by instilling trust and confidence
  • Working directly with clients to understand their business strategy, program requirements & processes
  • Providing knowledge transfer to the delivery teams to ensure a smooth handover from sales to delivery
Strategy
  • Accelerate new and attractive concepts into the sales-ready product portfolio by creating compelling and differentiated product & services propositions
  • Influence global product strategies (product strategy reviews, technology capability assessment, innovation screening, price/cost curves)
  • Cross Divisional planning and prioritization of product and aligned services portfolio
  • Strategy, presales & M&A support (product training, tech partnership strategy, gap and target identification)
  • Synthesize global and regional market trends, market sizing, technology trends, and customer & consumer insights to determine opportunities for investments
  • Conduct market intelligence and assess competitive positioning by comparing Harman\'s product & services portfolio to competitors\' products and eco-systems
  • Think beyond the technology itself and understand key business drivers that ensure technology investment will provide substantial value or improvements to customers
  • Leverage technologies within and outside of HARMAN to develop lasting and winning relationships to benefit the unique nature of the diverse HARMAN business.
  • Identify Go-To-Market strategies and effective sales product / services pitches in close collaboration with product marketing and sales
Generic
  • Work across organizational boundaries (Harman and Samsung) to drive a unified and best-in-class approach to Product Management & Business Development
  • Working directly with clients to understand their business strategy, program requirements & processes

Basic Requirements
  • Around 20 years\' experience or in-depth strategy or pre-sales or product management knowledge in Automotive SW & Services
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, MBA preferred
  • Automotive relevant experience which includes working with Automotive OEMs
  • Knowledge of automotive technologies and industry trends.
  • Knowledge of business case development and basic financial metrics
  • Experience working in a matrix, global organization by collaborating with key stakeholders
  • Results and detail-oriented: hold him/herself and others accountable for commitments
  • Effective C-Level communication skills
  • Creative problem-solver with the ability to work with a blank slate and inspire others.
  • Intellectual and curious with a passion for storytelling.
  • Basic Project Management skills and ability to perform under tight timelines.
  • Experience pivoting and navigating dynamic and changing situations.
  • Proactive, self-sufficient, and professional, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about delivering powerful presentations.
  • Flexibility to work in office or remotely, travel for business and work in multiple time zones as needed.
