Overview:

The Director, International Benefits

is a key HR role responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive international benefits operation as part of the total rewards programme across multiple geographies, The role is pivotal in ensuring the company attracts, motivates, and retains top talent globally by delivering competitive, compliant, and innovative international benefits programs.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Corporate HR in the US

, this position will be the subject matter expert for international benefits--with a focus on US, as well as Canada, India, the UK and some parts of Western Europe (growth focus). The Director will serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, shaping the company's global employee value proposition and supporting business objectives through effective rewards management. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the global benefits landscape of a high-growth, international organization, driving both strategic and operational excellence in total rewards.
Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership & Service Delivery Oversight



Provide strategic direction and hands-on oversight to the global international benefits operations team of six (based in the United States and India), ensuring the seamless administration of day-to-day benefits, compensation, and rewards processes for all supported geographies (US, Canada, India, UK, Europe). Supervise, mentor, and develop the team, setting clear performance expectations, conducting regular reviews, and fostering a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement. Act as the primary escalation point for complex or sensitive employee benefits issues, ensuring timely resolution in collaboration with the US Benefits team and other global stakeholders. Oversee the accurate and compliant execution of benefits administration, including health, welfare, retirement, and leave programs, ensuring all transactions are processed efficiently and in accordance with plan rules and regulatory requirements. Coordinate and align operational processes between the India team and the US Benefits team, establishing regular touchpoints, shared service standards, and joint problem-solving forums to ensure globally consistent service delivery. Drive process standardization, automation, and documentation to enhance scalability, accuracy, and efficiency of benefits operations. Ensure the India team delivers timely and high-quality responses to employee queries, supports benefits enrolment, and manages vendor relationships for local and global programs. Collaborate with HRIS, payroll, and finance teams to maintain data integrity, support audits, and ensure seamless integration of benefits data across systems. Lead the implementation of new or revised benefits programs, coordinating training, communications, and change management activities for the India team and relevant stakeholders. Monitor and report on operational KPIs (e.g., query resolution time, transaction accuracy, service satisfaction scores), using insights to drive continuous improvement and proactively address service gaps. Ensure the team adheres to all compliance requirements, including HIPAA (US), ERISA, and country-specific regulations, providing ongoing training and guidance as needed.

Compliance & Risk Management



Ensure all benefits programs meet regulatory requirements in each geography, including HIPAA, ERISA, ACA (US), and local statutory regulations in Canada, India, UK, and Europe. Lead audits, manage risk, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of global benefits laws and trends.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management



Manage relationships with external benefits providers, brokers, and consultants to ensure high-quality service delivery and cost optimization. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (HR, Finance, Legal) to ensure seamless program administration and communication.

Data Analytics & Reporting



Utilize data and analytics to assess the effectiveness and competitiveness of benefits programs; provide actionable insights and regular reports to executive leadership. Benchmark against industry and market trends to inform strategy adjustments and maintain a best-in-class rewards portfolio.

Leadership & Team Development



Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of total rewards professionals. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation within the team. Serve as a trusted advisor to the CPO and executive leadership, providing strategic counsel on global total rewards. Proactively engage and influence a diverse set of stakeholders, balancing global standards with local needs.

Employee Communication & Experience



Drive effective communication strategies to ensure employees understand and value their benefits. Monitor and enhance employee satisfaction and engagement with total rewards offerings.

Qualifications:
Master's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance/Accounting or related field; advanced HR or having benefits certifications (e.g., CCP, CBP, CEBS, SPHR, HIPAA compliance) is an added advantage. 12 to 15+ years of progressive experience in international benefits, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing international benefits in a multinational or captive setup. Deep technical expertise in US benefits (HIPAA, 401(k), health plans), with strong working knowledge of Canadian, Indian, and (to a possible extent) UK/European benefits. Proven track record of designing and delivering global benefits programs in alignment with business strategy. Strong analytical, financial modelling, and data-driven decision-making skills. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills at all organizational levels. Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities. High integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling sensitive information.

Preferred Experience:



Experience in a US-based international captive or multinational organization with a global employee footprint. Hands-on leadership of benefits programs spanning US, Canada, India, and EMEA regions. Successful track record managing complex compliance requirements and cross-border vendor relationships. Experience leading benefits harmonization and integration post-M&A is a plus.

Retention rates and reduction in regrettable attrition linked to total rewards. Benchmarking results versus market median for benefits competitiveness. Timeliness and accuracy of benefits administration and claims processing. Successful implementation and adoption of new or revised benefits programs. Stakeholder (leadership and employee) feedback on total rewards communication and support.
