Who You Are The Senior DevOps Engineer is the backbone of the Systems Engineering team within Engineering at the Verve Group. As a technology generalist, you are comfortable with tasks ranging from server provisioning and networking to IAAS provisioning, task automation, performance tuning and optimization, and working with virtualized or containerized applications and services. You are also focused on reproducibility and a less-is-more approach, utilizing automation tools, documentation, and practical, proactive communication to significant effect. You are comfortable in a self-directed environment supporting infrastructure for a geographically distributed engineering team. Additionally, you are prepared to \'be bold\' and take the initiative, be challenged, share your knowledge with your team, and have no issues reaching out to others when a challenge exceeds your knowledge or skill set. As a Senior, you will be expected to be an example to others, to mentor and teach as well be a point of escalation when needed. What You Will Do Manage virtual and network infrastructure across cloud infrastructure, from base instance provisioning to middleware updates and configuration management, with solid familiarity with task automation and IAAS provisioning technologies Assist in maintaining a base set of images and configurations for Engineering team to use to deploy new systems, nodes, or containers, and working with automated CI/CD systems for deployment such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and ArgoCD Maintain a deep understanding of our network infrastructure, data transport, storage, backup and utilization (including cost accounting) in a hybrid-cloud environment Ensure that all maintenance activities are repeatable via configuration management, IAAS templating and verification, and documentation Work as an active liaison between multiple development teams and System Engineering as a whole, utilizing cross-team processes and interfaces to communicate efficiently Be responsible and accountable for a holistic infrastructure platform, and the tooling required for teams to interface with that infrastructure Be a part of an on-call rotation responsible for infrastructure alert response, as well as a second-level escalation from other groups as required Be prepared and engaged in mentoring your peers and junior members of the team while engaging in continuous education, training materials, and the community as a whole Job Requirements What You Will Bring 4+ years of experience working as a DevOps/Systems Engineer including proficiency with GCP Cloud computing, with a focus on stable, reproducible applications, middleware, and infrastructure through the use of Pull Requests, ticketing, real-time communication, and collaborative documents and proposals Experience with GCP required Significant knowledge of scripting and serialization languages (bash, python, yaml, json) and their use in configuration management and automation Experience and understanding of virtualized, containerized, cloud, and bare-metal Linux infrastructure, including GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and server and networking infrastructure Comfortable with networking paradigms at both a VM and virtualized (container) level, including the concepts of proxying, HTTPS offloading, Port and IP redirection, and how to effectively monitor dataflow at the TCP/IP level Familiarity with Terraform or IAAS frameworks, Helm or configuration management solutions, Kubernetes/GKE, Jenkins or other build automation and deployment systems Knowledge and proficiency with object-storage paradigms (s3/GCS/ceph), networked and instance storage, and backup and lifecycle management for these systems Proficiency with structured data (i.e. MySQL), including backups, replication, and server performance optimization Exceptional communication skills and comfortable being embedded with other teams on a project-by-project basis, crossing time zones and with shared responsibility Experience with, and understanding of, agile development paradigms, including cooperation with Product and Project Managers, development engineers Familiarity with the development process (git/GitHub, PRs, commit hooks) surrounding modern languages (Golang, Java, Scala), sufficient to interact with development teams regularly What We Offer Join one of the top privacy-first omnichannel ad platforms and gaming companies Be part of a multicultural team (55+ nationalities) that is bringing advertising to the next level Benefit from working with some of the most experienced professionals in our industry and constantly grow with us You will learn and evolve in an empowering environment characterized by entrepreneurial actions Responsibility, independence, and an opportunity to participate in projects that have a significant impact on Verve Group\'s success 3 Wellness days per year to help you maintain your well-being (in Q1, Q2 and Q3 after min. 90 days of employment) Enhance your professional skills with a yearly training budget and improve your language skills through German and/or English classes.
