The Role: DevOps / Release Management

The Team: The team works in the SAFe agile environment and adheres to all principles of Agile. As DevOps/RM Engineer, you will work with a team of intelligent, ambitious and results-oriented software professionals. The team is independent in driving all decisions and is responsible for the design and quick turnaround of development of our products with the highest quality.

The Impact: In the DevOps/RM Engineer role, you will make a significant contribution in building solutions to manage and deploy code across financial and non-financial platforms. Your challenge will be to reduce "time to market" for products without compromising quality thereby leveraging automation/DevOps as well as innovation. You will use a wide range of technologies and have the opportunity to interact with different internal teams.

Responsibilities:

Administer the source control system including merging and branching code, backup operations, user management, and performance tuning.

Manage build and deploy source code branches for applications to multiple environments while working with multiple project teams.

Maintain lower and production environment application servers.

Provide systems monitoring for release engineering systems and application servers.

Troubleshoot and fix build environment problems.

Review and update existing release engineering environment and identify areas for improvement.

Maintain the build and deployment processes that are currently in place as well as look to constantly improve the processes to increase efficiency.

Design, implement, maintain and evolve the CI/CD and orchestration systems

Apply problem solving skills to modernize overall technology solutions that will directly impact client missions.

Develop and troubleshoot challenging technical solutions that include automation, software issues, monitoring, maintenance, configuration, SQL scripting and CI/CD pipeline implementations.

Coordinate and communicate with internal and external teams to support customer needs

Work under light supervision within project and/or task constraints and develop solutions, methods and procedures on assignments/projects

Manage, maintain and communicate the release schedule to internal stakeholders

Responsible for the Release Management lifecycle that involves the stages such as scheduling the release, coordinating between teams, and deployment of release as per the planned schedule as well as emergency releases.

Overall planning, tracking, release, deployment, communication, and risk management.

Participate in CAB meetings to discuss the release schedules with the other IT teams and find roadblocks & inter dependencies, if any

Sync weekly with cross-org teams to align on upcoming release objectives and client needs

Manage, maintain, and execute a process for phasing the delivery of new releases into a large and diverse customer base

interact with the Dev, QA teams, Business teams (product owners) and upper Management, whenever required

What We're Looking For:

2+ years of experience with software development or technical implementations, including a strong understanding of fundamental programming and software development concepts.

Experience using Python, PowerShell, Perl, Bash or other scripting languages to automate and orchestrate technical activities including installation and administration.

Experience designing, documenting and developing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Pipelines for complex applications preferably using GIT, Jenkins and other automation tools.

3+ years' experience with application deployments using CI/CD

BS/MS in Computer Science or related engineering degree is required or 3+years of professional experience in release engineering, tools development or similar function.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with a history of building thoughtful software solutions.

Excellent communication skills are a must to work with multiple departments during the release process.

Demonstrated experience with one or more source control (Git and CVS) and continuous integration (Jenkins) systems.

Knowledge and experience with various OS including Windows and Linux.

Experience with a variety of database technologies - SQL, Oracle, or MySQL

Experience with IaaS, PaaS, and cloud technologies

Experience using an agile development methodology.

Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Java, Python, Bash, Shell

Experience designing, documenting and developing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Pipelines for complex applications preferably using GIT, Jenkins and other automation tools.

Excellent scripting experience with one or more of the following: Bash, Python, or PowerShell.

Motivated, self-directed, multitasker and proactive.

Flexibility to assist with after-hours support when needed.

Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to break down and understand complex business problems, define a solution and implement solutions in software.

Solid oral and written communication skills, especially around analytical concepts and methods.

Strong work ethic and intellectual curiosity.
