Job Summary

The Design Manager will lead and oversee the design department, managing the development of wood and metal products from concept to production. This role requires strong expertise in

AutoCAD and SolidWorks

to create detailed 2D/3D drawings, technical models, and production documentation. The manager will coordinate between design, production, and quality teams to ensure innovative, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions that meet client and market requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Drafting

Lead the creation of 2D drawings and 3D models for furniture, fixtures, and metal/wood structures using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Develop detailed technical drawings, assemblies, and bill of materials (BOM). Ensure designs comply with material properties, production processes, and safety standards.

Team & Project Management

Manage, mentor, and supervise a team of designers/draftsmen. Plan and allocate workloads, ensuring timely delivery of design outputs. Collaborate with production, procurement, and quality control departments to align designs with manufacturing capabilities.

Innovation & Product Development

Research and implement new design trends, technologies, and materials in wood and metal industries. Develop prototypes and conduct design testing for functionality, durability, and cost-efficiency. Continuously improve existing designs for efficiency, aesthetics, and customer satisfaction.

Client & Stakeholder Coordination

Translate client requirements into technical specifications and production-ready designs. Participate in client meetings, presentations, and design reviews. Provide technical support during production and installation phases.

Documentation & Standards

Maintain accurate records of drawings, revisions, and technical files. Ensure compliance with international design standards and industry regulations. Establish and enforce design best practices and quality assurance processes.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Furniture Design, or related field. Minimum

5-11 years of experience

in product design for the wood and/or metal industry. Strong proficiency in

AutoCAD

and

SolidWorks

Experience in furniture, joinery, fabrication, or custom metal/wood products. Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes (cutting, welding, CNC machining, joinery, finishing). Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management abilities. Strong communication skills to liaise with clients, vendors, and internal teams.

Optional Key Competencies

Knowledge of CNC programming, laser cutting, or woodworking machinery. Experience in for BOM and production workflow.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹75,000.00 per month
