Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled

Sr. Design and Drafting Engineer

with extensive experience in the fabrication industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating detailed engineering designs, fabrication drawings, and supporting documentation for customized fabrication projects. This role requires expertise in 3D modeling, manufacturing drawings, material selection, and a sound understanding of fabrication processes (sheet metal, structural steel, piping, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:

Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for fabricated components, assemblies, and structures using CAD software (AutoCAD, Solidedge, etc.). Prepare fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings as per project requirements. Work closely with production, procurement, and quality teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability. Interpret client specifications, technical standards, and applicable codes. Generate bills of materials (BOM) and material specifications for fabrication. Review and validate design calculations related to strength, load, and structural integrity. Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior design staff. Ensure compliance with industry standards (IS, ASME, AWS, etc.) and company quality procedures. Provide support for site measurements, as-built drawings, and field modifications if required. Drive continuous improvement in design processes, templates, and drafting standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. 5+ years of experience in design and drafting within the fabrication / manufacturing / heavy engineering industry. Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar). Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques (welding, cutting, bending, machining). Familiarity with structural steel, sheet metal, tanks, skids, pressure parts, or piping design. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication standards, and codes. Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments. Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.

Preferred:

Experience with PDM/PLM systems. Exposure to international standards (ASME, DIN, API, etc.). Knowledge of FEA and simulation tools (added advantage).
