Job Title- Senior DB- PostgreSQL Admin

Location- Bangalore,Karnataka
work mode- 5 days WFO.
JOB SUMMARY-
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain PostgreSQL databases in production and development environments.
Ensure optimal database performance through monitoring, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning.
Manage database capacity planning, including growth projections and storage optimization.
Design, implement, and maintain HA solutions such as replication, clustering, and failover mechanisms.
Develop and test disaster recovery plans to ensure minimal downtime and data loss.
Perform query tuning and indexing to optimize application performance.
Analyze and resolve bottlenecks in data access or processing.
Implement and enforce database security best practices, including user access controls and encryption.
Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Set up monitoring systems to track database health, performance, and anomalies.
Automate routine tasks like backups, data migrations, and maintenance jobs using scripts or tools.
Work closely with development teams to understand data requirements and recommend best practices for schema design.
Document database architectures, processes, and procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications
8+ years of hands-on experience managing PostgreSQL databases in production environments.
Expertise in designing and implementing high availability (HA) architectures (e.g., streaming replication, Patroni, etc.).
Proficiency in database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
Strong knowledge of database security principles and implementation.
Experience with backup and recovery solutions (e.g., pgBackRest, Barman).
Familiarity with monitoring tools like pgAdmin, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
Proficient in writing advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
Scripting experience in languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl for database automation.
Solid understanding of Linux systems, including shell scripting and basic server management.
Familiarity with containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure PostgreSQL).
Preferred Qualifications
PostgreSQL certifications (e.g., PostgreSQL Certified Professional).
Experience with other database systems like MySQL, MongoDB, or Oracle.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Knowledge of big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
