Position Overview
This role will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures to support the global business's data needs. The Data Engineer will ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of data systems by integrating raw data from various sources, optimizing data storage solutions, and enabling advanced analytics. Key responsibilities include data modeling, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) development, and ensuring data quality and security.
Effective communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a strong understanding of modern data engineering tools and technologies are essential. A willingness to collaborate across teams, adapt to evolving business requirements, and continuously learn new techniques and technologies is critical to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate with the business and data owners to design and build new data models within Azure
Lead discussions with IT for data exposure prioritization and cloud platform maintenance
Monitor data pipeline performance, identify bottlenecks, and troubleshoot issues to ensure smooth and efficient data operations.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, processes, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing
Ensure data quality and security of the data pipelines, replicating the security structure provided by the raw data sources being accessed
Continuously seek out industry best practice and skills to develop new capabilities for data engineering at McCormick and help drive our digital transformation
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Analytics/Science, or related field.
5-8 Years of Post Qualification Exp.
Advanced analytical skillset. Proficiency in cleaning, visualizing, analyzing, and presenting insights from data sets
Demonstrated ability coding in one or more languages (PySpark preferred)
Experience with data visualization software (Power BI preferred)
Experience with building data pipelines
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
