The Senior Admission Counselor plays a key role in the recruitment and enrollment of prospective students. This individual is responsible for developing and executing recruitment strategies, managing a territory, and supporting the admissions team with training and mentoring. The role requires strong communication skills, a deep understanding of the institution's mission and academic programs, and the ability to engage with a diverse population of students and families.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage a recruitment territory, including travel to college fairs, and community events.
Conduct interviews, information sessions, and presentations to prospective students and families.
Review applications for admission, evaluate credentials, and make recommendations in line with institutional standards.
Collaborate with marketing and communications to support recruitment campaigns.
Maintain and analyze data to evaluate recruitment and yield strategies.
Mentor and assist in training new admissions counselors and student ambassadors.
Develop relationships with high school counselors, community organizations, and alumni to strengthen recruitment efforts.
Represent the university at internal and external events, including open houses, orientation programs, and school visits.
Assist in planning and execution of on-campus and virtual events.
Stay up-to-date with trends in higher education, admissions practices, and competitor institutions.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in college admissions, student recruitment, or a related field.
Strong interpersonal, public speaking, and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to travel extensively and work evenings/weekends as needed.
Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Slate, Salesforce), Microsoft Office Suite, and virtual meeting tools.
Preferred:
Any degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Marketing, or related field.
Experience working with diverse student populations.
Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
Familiarity with enrollment forecasting.
