The team






The Deloitte South Asia strategic growth team serves as a central pillar driving growth and transformation within DSA, spanning several business lines and various technology functions. We are established as a centralized team collaborating across consulting, implementation, and operation to maintain and enhance client value offerings and services. We innovate conventional approaches, leveraging Deloitte technology, differentiated domain expertise, intellectual property, talent, and capacity to embed continuous advantage and deliver enhanced business value.



In this team, our focus is on catering to the unique needs and preferences of clients in the South Asia region. Your role within this dynamic team is essential for establishing networks and relationships across the client stakeholder ecosystem and ensuring service fulfillment. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with other Deloitte leadership and stakeholders dedicated to the client. Your contributions will involve nurturing new and existing relationships, supporting presales life cycles, and playing a pivotal role in driving the success of DSA business growth for the specific client.

Your work profile







We are looking for an experienced

Solaris SME - Senior Consultant

to support, manage, and modernize mission-critical Oracle Solaris environments across enterprise data centers. This role requires deep technical expertise in

Solaris administration, virtualization (LDOMs/Zones), patching, storage, clustering

, and performance tuning.



You will serve as the go-to expert for advanced Solaris operations (L2/L3), lead troubleshooting for complex incidents, assist in architectural improvements, and ensure system reliability, security, and lifecycle compliance.




Key Responsibilities




Solaris Server Administration




Administer and manage

Oracle Solaris 10/11

environments, including installation, configuration, system builds, and OS lifecycle operations. Perform system hardening, patching, kernel updates, package management (IPS/SVR4), and performance optimization. Manage and troubleshoot ZFS file systems, storage pools, NFS configurations, and disk provisioning.

Virtualization & Partitioning (LDOMs & Zones)




Deploy and manage

Logical Domains (LDOMs)

-- control domain, service domain, I/O domain, and guest domains. Configure and manage

Solaris Zones

(global, non-global, branded zones). Support live migration, resource management, virtual networking (vsw/vnet), and storage provisioning for virtualized environments.

Clustering & High Availability




Implement, manage, and troubleshoot

Oracle Solaris Cluster

for high availability. Configure cluster nodes, quorum, failover resources, agents, and fencing policies. Conduct failover testing, cluster health checks, and incident recovery for production clusters.

Networking, Security & OS Internals




Configure and troubleshoot Solaris networking (aggregation, VLANs, IPMP, routing, virtual switches). Apply Solaris security controls, RBAC, auditing, SMF services, and compliance requirements. Analyze logs and OS internals for kernel, process, or performance issues.

Automation, Scripting & Tooling




Automate tasks using

Shell scripting

, Python, or Ansible (where applicable). Build operational scripts for monitoring, patching, cluster validation, and resource management. Integrate with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Oracle Enterprise Manager).

Operations, Troubleshooting & Support




Provide

L2/L3 support

for escalated Solaris-related incidents. Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) for system failures, performance degradations, and cluster incidents. Support DR drills, capacity planning, system audits, and environment modernization initiatives.

Documentation & Collaboration




Maintain technical documentation including build guides, SOPs, topology diagrams, and cluster documentation. Work closely with Linux, network, storage, database, and application teams to support business-critical workloads. Participate in change management, patch windows, planned maintenance, and compliance audits.



Required Skills




Strong hands-on experience with

Oracle Solaris 10/11

administration. Expertise in

LDOMs

,

Solaris Zones

, and virtualization frameworks. Strong knowledge of

Oracle Solaris Cluster

and high-availability concepts. Proficiency with ZFS, storage pools, disk management, and network configurations. Experience with SMF services, RBAC, IPS/PKG, patching tools, and OS hardening. Solid troubleshooting skills involving OS internals, performance tuning, networking, and clustering. Experience working in enterprise-scale Solaris environments.



Experience




8-10 years

of Solaris/Unix administration experience. Hands-on experience supporting Solaris in production environments, including clustered setups and LDOM deployments. Exposure to ITIL processes and enterprise operations best practices.



Good to have




Oracle Solaris certifications (Oracle Certified Associate/Professional). Experience with Oracle SPARC hardware platforms (T-series/M-series). Familiarity with automation/orchestration tools (Ansible, Puppet). Exposure to migration or modernization projects (Solaris to Linux transitions).
