Sr. Consultant-Actuarial will be a subject matter expert, responsible for technical delivery of actuarial work product, formally lead a group of analysts, train and mentor them on retirement and annuity products and processes.
This role will report to the Senior Manager - Actuarial (RIS) at PGS
Responsibilities
Work Product DeliveryResponsible for the delivery of work product of this team from quality and timeliness as agreed with the enterprise
Be a Subject Matter Expert. Expected to lead/own the process end-to-end on valuation, reporting and other processes as agreed with the enterprise. Includes strong understanding of the process and well as the larger picture and actuarial concepts involved.
Work closely with the Actuarial Governance Group to elevate the business acumen of the team
Seek and provide feedback around work and collaboration. Timely updated work products and responses to feedback/requested changes.
Be a problem solver. Build business acumen in the relevant product lines and contribute to the team's ability to solve problems.
PeopleBe a bridge between the team and the enterprise. Responsible for hiring, training and engagement of all the employees under their span
Work closely with the enterprise to prepare talent strategy, future headcount forecast
Ensure optimum resource allocation, their fungibility
Engage with the team through regular 1-1's and team connects. Responsible for annual appraisals of direct reports
Analyze training needs and interventions to ensure top quality work product
Work closely with PGS and enterprise leadership to meet and exceed goals and objectives
Continuous ImprovementExplore opportunities for continuous improvement - including automation and process enhancements
Risk ManagementBe aware of talent and process risks. Take all the necessary steps to avoid and mitigate those risks.
Ensure proper process and training documentation to manage turnover risk
Qualifications and skills:Graduate or Postgraduate with significant progress in actuarial exams/Associate/Fellow Actuary
10+ years of actuarial experience
Experience with U.S. retirement or annuity products preferred but not required.
Understanding of valuation and asset adequacy, or ability to learn
Proficient with tools like MS Excel, VBA, SQL, SAS, R and MG ALFA
Mindset for continuous improvement
