to lead and manage chemical testing, quality control, and product formulation processes in our factory. The Senior Chemist will ensure raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods meet industry and company quality standards. This role is critical to ensuring product consistency, process optimization, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform and supervise routine and advanced chemical testing on raw materials, process intermediates, and final products.
Monitor and analyze chemical properties and reactions, especially those relevant to paper-making processes such as pulp composition, sizing, brightness, pH, moisture content, and chemical dosages.
Develop and improve chemical formulations to enhance product quality, reduce cost, and meet specific customer requirements.
Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot process issues and recommend chemical/process modifications.
Maintain and calibrate lab instruments such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, viscometers, etc.
Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards in the use and disposal of chemicals.
Maintain documentation for quality control processes, SOPs, and test reports.
Train junior chemists, lab assistants, and production personnel on chemical handling and testing procedures.
Stay updated on new chemicals, innovations, and regulatory changes in the paper or manufacturing industry.
Qualifications & Experience:
B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or related field.
Minimum 8-10 years of experience in chemical testing or formulation, preferably in the paper, pulp, or process manufacturing industry.
Strong understanding of chemical applications in paper-making (e.g., wet strength agents, sizing chemicals, fillers, dyes).
Proficient in lab safety practices and quality control standards (e.g., ISO, BIS).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Ability to lead and mentor a small technical team.
Work Conditions:
Based in lab and production areas; may require coordination with shift teams.
Handling of chemicals and lab equipment with strict safety protocols.
