The Senior Biomedical Engineer is responsible for managing, supervising, and maintaining all medical equipment within the hospital to ensure safety, accuracy, and optimal performance. The role involves overseeing installation, calibration, preventive and corrective maintenance, vendor coordination, staff training, and compliance with NABH standards.
Supervise installation, calibration, and preventive maintenance of all biomedical equipment.
Troubleshoot, repair, and ensure timely resolution of equipment breakdowns.
Maintain inventory and ensure optimal utilization of medical devices across departments (ICU, OT, Radiology, Cath Lab, Dialysis, etc.).
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules as per manufacturer guidelines.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with NABH, ISO, and other regulatory requirements related to biomedical equipment.
Maintain proper documentation, service records, and equipment history logs.
Conduct risk assessment and ensure patient safety by verifying equipment accuracy and safety features.
Team Leadership & Training
Lead and mentor a team of biomedical engineers and technicians.
Provide technical training to doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff on safe usage of equipment.
Organize refresher courses on biomedical safety and equipment handling.
Vendor & Procurement Coordination
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for equipment purchase, warranty claims, service contracts, and AMC/CMC agreements.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies, equipment, and upgrades for hospital use.
Assist in budget planning for biomedical equipment procurement and maintenance.
Emergency Response
Provide immediate technical support in case of life-saving equipment failures (ventilators, defibrillators, dialysis machines, monitors, etc.).
Be available for on-call support for ICU, ER, OT, and other critical care areas.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed equipment history, calibration certificates, and compliance documents.
Submit periodic reports to hospital management on equipment performance, downtime, and maintenance schedules.
Assist in internal and external audits related to biomedical compliance.
