We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for driving the backend development efforts within our organization, ensuring robust, scalable, and efficient systems that power our products. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture and performance of our backend systems, contributing to the overall success of our company through innovative solutions and leadership.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and deployment of high-performance backend services using Node.js, Express.js, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers and product managers, to build and maintain RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints.
Architect and implement serverless solutions using Cloud Functions (Firebase, AWS Lambda, or GCP equivalents) to enhance scalability and performance.
Optimize database design and queries for PostgreSQL and Firestore to ensure data integrity and performance.
Drive the adoption of CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless integration and delivery of code updates.
Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Engage in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
Collaborate with frontend teams, ensuring seamless integration and alignment with React applications.
Maintain a strong focus on security best practices, including OAuth, RBAC, and data protection.
Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, translating technical concepts into actionable insights.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
6+ years of professional experience in backend development, with a strong focus on Node.js and Express.js.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide team members.
Strong internal and external communication skills, with fluency in English (both spoken and written).
Deep experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks and production-level cloud functions.
Experience in building and maintaining RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL endpoints.
Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, serverless architecture, and backend performance optimization.
Experience with database design and optimization, particularly with PostgreSQL and Firestore.
Familiarity with integrating frontend applications, particularly React.
Ability to pass a technical assessment in React.
