The Senior Automobile Technician - 4 Wheeler is responsible for advanced diagnosis, complex repairs, and ensuring high-quality service delivery. The role includes mentoring junior technicians, handling repeat complaints, and maintaining OEM repair standards to achieve high customer satisfaction and workshop productivity.
Key ResponsibilitiesAdvanced Diagnosis & Repairs
Perform advanced diagnostics of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
Handle complex issues related to engine, transmission, ABS, airbags, ECU, sensors, and CAN systems
Analyze and resolve repeat job cards and customer complaints
Conduct road tests before and after repairs to ensure quality
Maintenance & Service Quality
Execute preventive maintenance services (PMS) as per OEM guidelines
Ensure first-time-right repairs and reduce comebacks
Follow standard repair times, SOPs, and safety norms
Verify repair quality before vehicle delivery
Team Leadership & Training
Guide, mentor, and supervise junior technicians and trainees
Allocate work based on skill level and job priority
Conduct on-the-job training and technical knowledge sharing
Support workshop manager in productivity improvement initiatives
Workshop & Process Control
Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, diagnostic equipment, and special service tools (SST)
Maintain 5S standards and workshop discipline
Support warranty diagnosis, root cause analysis, and OEM audit compliance
Documentation & Reporting
Review and close job cards with accurate fault and repair details
Assist service advisors in preparing estimates for major repairs
Maintain technical records, warranty claims, and service reports in DMS
Customer & OEM Coordination
Support service advisors in explaining technical issues to customers when required
Coordinate with OEM technical support for unresolved issues
Attend OEM technical trainings and certification programs
Required Skills & Competencies
Expert knowledge of 4-wheeler mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Hands-on experience with OEM diagnostic tools and scanners
Leadership and team-handling ability
Good communication and coordination skills
Computer literacy (DMS, diagnostic software, email)
Qualification & Experience
Education:
ITI / Diploma in Automobile Engineering
Experience:
Minimum
5-8 years
in 4-wheeler servicing
OEM dealership experience mandatory (Maruti, Hyundai, Tata, Kia, etc.)
OEM technical certification preferred
Working Conditions
Full-time workshop-based role
May require extended working hours during peak seasons
Exposure to vehicle lifts, machinery, grease, oil, and noise
