An Operations Engineer in the Global Infrastructure Autopatch service must have experience with administration, operation and customization of HCL BigFix. This operations position is responsible for the maintenance, execution, operations and continuous improvement of Finastra's emerging Infrastructure Autopatch Service. The role requires experience in working in a diverse IT Operations and Infrastructure environment supporting enterprise applications and will provides hands-on support and operational care of the firm's global HCL BigFix infrastructure using SRE and DevOps best practices. The role will also be responsible for researching, planning, coordinating & implementing Service automation solutions from conceptual design through realized requirements.
Technical Duties - BigFix Enterprise Operations
Architect, implement and operate the firm's global BigFix service to provide modern and reliable security-patch content delivery and installation on a world-wide scale Push the state of the art of remediation-automation through continuous improvement methods toward the purpose of driving down the firm's technology vulnerabilities and meeting/exceeding stated SLAs Partner with the Information Security organization in reporting, resolving, communicating and governing the firm's technology vulnerabilities Provide technical services focused to the needs of the CIO-organization, but capable to service other Finastra organizations as well Deliver reliable commercial-grade automated patching to 20k servers around the planet in a risk & operations balanced manner Function as an empowered DevOps / SRE infrastructure core-service operations group - automating wherever possible Be a Security-Patching-Ambassador to help move the firm's culture to a modern security posture that can better deal with today's threat landscape
Day in the life - BigFix Enterprise Operations
Install security patches for both OS-level and 3rd party products using BigFix service to Windows, Linux, AIX, HP-UX and Solaris based systems Push required security baseline tooling such as Qualys or Falcon to any server endpoints that are reachable through BigFixPerform troubleshooting of failed patch installations, up to and including escalating to and working with the vendor to resolve the issue Partner with InfoSec, Network and Server Sysadmin teams to diagnose Agent issues and failed patch installations Ask questions, challenge assumptions, and run this like your own business. Drive out risk.
Experience required :
Multi-year (2+) being hands-on for a large scale (10k+ endpoints) HCL BigFix deployment active in engineering, fixlet design and delivery operations Multi-year
(2+) hands-on experience with administering, patching and monitoring a large BigFix 9.X production environment
Knowledge of BigFix Relevance and Session Relevance Languages
Mid-level Sys Admin skills on Windows Server Mid-level Sr Sysadmin skills on Red Hat, or CentOS Linux operating systems Experience writing fixlets in TEM/BigFix for package deployments. Experience creating packages for windows updates to servers and PCs.
Critical skills
Exceptional problem-solving drive, needs to enjoy solving the complex puzzles
Experienced with PowerBI and Excel used in problem solving, and communicating results Mission/vision oriented - able to function autonomously within certain parameters Automation & scripting: Ansible, PowerShell etc
