The Vended Application Senior Consultant II typically provides expertise across several areas of the business and delivers product features utilizing vended software, particularly ERP applications, by applying knowledge of the application's functionality and client business processes. The role creates technical designs for their area and configures vendor software for new or existing enterprise-wide and business-unit applications moderately complex and above projects and maintenance efforts.
We are seeking an experienced

Apigee Engineer

with strong expertise in

observability (Datadog)

,

troubleshooting

, and

automation

. The role is critical for ensuring the

stability, performance, and security

of our API Management platform. The ideal candidate excels in production support, drives automation to reduce manual effort, and collaborates across teams to deliver reliable, self-healing services.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and support

Apigee API Gateway

(on-prem or hybrid) including

proxy deployments

,

policy management

,

routing

,

authentication

, and

certificate renewals

. Design and implement

Datadog dashboards

,

monitors

, and

alerting strategies

for proactive API performance monitoring. Troubleshoot

production issues

, perform

root cause analysis (RCA)

, and ensure timely resolution to maintain high availability. Develop and maintain

automation scripts and playbooks

(Python, Ansible, or Shell) to streamline deployments, monitoring, and incident recovery. Collaborate with

cross-functional teams

(SRE, DevOps, Security, and Network) to improve

reliability

,

observability

, and

incident response readiness

. Participate in

disaster recovery testing

and ensure documented

operational runbooks

and

self-service tooling

are up to date. Mentor junior engineers, drive

best practices

, and contribute to

continuous improvement

initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

2- 6 years of experience managing

Apigee Edge or Hybrid

platforms. Strong understanding of

API Gateway architecture

traffic management

, and

policy development

. Hands-on experience with

Datadog

(dashboards, alerts, log pipelines). Proven

automation experience

Ansible

Python

, or

Shell scripting

. Solid knowledge of

Linux

SSL/certificates
