As part of Nielsen's Outcomes and Measurement team you will be part of a data science team focused on building scalable solutions to answer the questions like: What was the return on investment for specific media spend? Which marketing type drove the highest return on investment? How do we measure the causal relationship between advertising and engagement/sales? How can we use data to help our clients plan for the future? Our Data Science associates come from diverse disciplines that include business, economics, engineering, mathematics, operations research, physics and statistics. Nielsen's Data Science organization has an opportunity available for a Senior Data Scientist. The ideal candidate must have expertise in leading the research and development of analytic solutions with a focus on data analysis, data processing, and data engineering processes. The candidate should have work experience in assisting the orchestration of econometric/statistical or machine learning models, expertise in modern analytics programming, tested and deployed machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques, and the capacity to work in an agile development environment alongside data scientists and software engineers. Solid foundation in orchestrating solutions for marketing, pricing and/or advertising organizations is preferred.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain various data processing systems to support scalable analytical research and development.
Design and write modules for Nielsen analytics platforms using Python, Pandas, Scikit Learn, R, Spark MLlib and Scala
Extract data from different platforms using SQL and/or best approach.
Understand econometric models, and supervised and unsupervised learning approaches.
Document, design and present process flows for analytical systems using best practices
Partner with our Software Engineering department to build best-of-class cloud-based analytical solutions
Design and prioritize work for smaller teams
Mentor newly hired associates
Qualifications
Graduate degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other Quantitative Field of Study
6+ yrs experience in working in Data Science and/or Data Engineering
Expertise in Python, Spark, SQL or other modern programming languages
Strong background in data analysis, data processing and data engineering workflows.
Experience in using machine learning libraries and techniques
Proficient with cloud providers (e.g. AWS, Azure)
Experience in code management, docker, and CI/CD pipelines
Well-organized and capable of leading multiple mission-critical projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Attention to detail - quality, and accuracy in all work and interactions
Quick learner with a logical mindset and analytical thinking who is passionate about technology
Experience in short-release life-cycle (agile processes including scrum)
