Job Description

Position Title: Sr. Accounts Officer

Job location: Kovalam, Trivandrum

Company profile; A well reputed organization based in Kerala having turnover of 1000+ crores.

Position Overview: The Senior Accounts Officer is responsible for ensuring accurate financial accounting, statutory compliance, cost control, revenue assurance, and timely financial reporting for a luxury resort environment. The role supports the Financial Controller in maintaining robust financial controls, optimizing cash flows, and ensuring compliance with Indian statutory, tax, and hospitality-specific accounting requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

Education: M.Com / MBA (Finance). CA-Inter / CMA-Inter preferred.

Experience: 8-10 years in hotel/resort accounting; minimum 3 years in a luxury or 5-star resort environment.

Systems: Experience with hotel ERP, PMS-POS integration, and advanced Excel. Reporting to: Financial Controller CTC: As per market standards & in accordance with Company Policy



Key Responsibilities:

A. Financial Accounting & Reporting

a. Maintain complete and accurate books of accounts in compliance with Ind AS, Companies Act, and internal policies.

b. Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing of accounts.

c. Prepare monthly P&L, Balance Sheet schedules, and variance analysis.

d. Monitor accruals, provisions, prepaid expenses, and depreciation.

e. Assist in preparation of MIS reports for management and owners.

B. Revenue Accounting & Controls

a. Ensure accurate revenue recognition across Rooms, F&B, Spa, Events, and Other Operating Departments.

b. Reconcile PMS, POS, Spa, and other activity systems with the GL.

c. Monitor discounts, allowances, rebates, and complimentary policies.

d. Ensure daily revenue audits are completed and discrepancies resolved promptly.

C. Cost Control & Payables

a. Verify vendor invoices against PO, GRN, and contracts.

b. Ensure timely processing of accounts payable and vendor payments.

c. Track operating costs department-wise and flag variances.

d. Support Stores & Cost Control in inventory valuation and consumption analysis.

D. Statutory & Tax Compliance

a. Ensure timely compliance with GST, TDS, PF, ESI, Professional Tax, and other statutory requirements.

b. Prepare data for GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, reconciliation with GSTR-2B).

c. Ensure accurate TDS deductions, challan payments, and quarterly returns.

d. Coordinate with consultants and auditors for statutory, internal, and tax audits.

E. Cash, Bank & Treasury

a. Monitor daily cash position and bank balances.

b. Perform regular bank reconciliations.

c. Control cash handling procedures and surprise cash audits.

d. Assist in cash flow forecasting and working capital management.

F. Budgeting & Forecasting Support

a. Assist in annual budget preparation and periodic forecasts.

b. Track actual vs budget performance and explain variances.

c. Support department heads with financial data and cost insights.

G. Audit & Internal Controls

a. Ensure adherence to SOPs, and internal control systems. [3 EYE method]

b. Close audit observations within agreed timelines.

c. Implement process improvements to reduce leakages and inefficiencies.

H. Team Coordination & Systems

a. Guide junior accounts staff and coordinate with Night Audit, Cost Control, and Stores.

b. Ensure effective use of ERP / Accounting Software

c. Coordinate with IT and Operations for system controls and data integrity.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to ?60,000.00 per month
