About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of proven experience in managing accounting operations within distribution and retail businesses. You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, managing inventory-related accounts, and supporting management with accurate financial reporting for strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
Manage end-to-end accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Bank Reconciliation.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, MIS reports, and monthly/annual closing of accounts.
Handle GST, TDS, Income Tax filings, and other statutory compliances.
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and vendor payments.
Retail & Distribution Accounting
Manage and reconcile inventory, stock transfers, and cost of goods sold (COGS).
Track and record sales, returns, discounts, schemes, and promotional expenses.
Oversee accounting related to multiple branches, warehouses, and distribution channels.
Prepare detailed reports on sales performance, margins, and credit control.
Internal Controls & Audits
Implement and maintain strong internal financial controls to minimize risks.
Coordinate with internal and statutory auditors for audits and ensure compliance.
Identify process gaps and suggest improvements for efficiency.
Team & Leadership
Supervise junior accountants and ensure accurate bookkeeping and Monthly Stock Checking.
Support management with budgeting, forecasting, and business planning.
Act as a financial advisor to management on profitability and cost control.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting (CA Inter / CMA preferred).
3-5 years of experience in accounting within the distribution and retail industry.
Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, and other Indian taxation & compliance.
Experience in inventory accounting, stock reconciliation, and retail margins.
Proficiency in Tally ERP / Zoho Books / SAP / QuickBooks.
Excellent command of MS Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, MIS reporting).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Note: This is an on-site position based in Chandni Chowk, Kolkata, with working hours from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday to Saturday.
