Senior Accountant - (School)



Position Overview



The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and supervising all financial and accounting



operations of the school. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with statutory



requirements, effective fee management, and smooth functioning of daily accounts operations. The



Senior Accountant also guides junior accounting staff and supports school leadership with timely



financial insights.



Key Responsibilities



1. Financial Accounting & Reporting



? Maintain accurate books of accounts in Tally/ERP (General Ledger, AP, AR).



? Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.



? Monitor all accounting transactions and ensure proper documentation.



? Conduct regular ledger scrutiny and account reconciliation.



? Prepare MIS reports for management (cash flow, ageing, fee dues, expense analysis,



variance reports).



2. Fee Management & Collections



? Oversee fee collection process--cash, cheque, online transactions.



? Monitor student fee dues, concessions, and scholarships.



? Coordinate with admin/admissions team for fee follow-up.



? Reconcile fee receipts with bank deposits daily.



? Handle fee refunds, adjustments, transport fees, and other collections.



3. Budgeting & Financial Planning



? Assist management in annual budgeting and forecasting.



? Prepare budget vs. actual expenditure reports.



? Monitor expenses to ensure budget compliance.



? Identify cost-saving areas and financial risks.



4. Statutory Compliance



? Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, PF, ESI, PT, Income Tax, and other statutory requirements.



? Prepare and file returns (GST, TDS, etc.) on time.



? Coordinate for statutory audits, internal audits, and compliance reviews.



? Maintain proper records for government inspections (Education Department, Labour, PF).



5. Payroll & Vendor Payments



? Verify and process monthly payroll, leaves, attendance, and staff reimbursements.



? Ensure accurate salary computation and statutory deductions.



? Manage vendor payments--invoice verification, GRN matching, payment scheduling.



? Maintain vendor ledgers, contracts, and compliance documents.



6. Asset & Inventory Management



? Maintain asset register and handle depreciation entries.



? Coordinate with admin team for physical verification of assets/inventory.



? Track school property additions, disposals, repairs, and AMC payments.



7. Bank & Cash Management



? Monitor bank accounts, online transactions, and reconcile statements.



? Manage petty cash, imprest accounts, and cash transactions.



? Handle funds planning to ensure smooth operational expenses.



8. Team Leadership & Coordination



? Supervise junior accountants, cashiers, and fee clerks.



? Provide training on financial processes and internal controls.



? Coordinate with the Principal, Admin Head, CA, and Management for financial decisions.



Required Qualifications & Skills



Education



? B.Com / M.Com / MBA Finance



? CA Inter / CMA Inter preferred (optional)



Experience



? Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in a school or educational



institution.



? Strong knowledge of Tally/ERP and MS Excel.



Skills



? Strong understanding of Accounts & Taxation



? Good analytical and reporting skills



? High accuracy and attention to detail



? Ability to handle multi-tasking and deadlines



? Good communication and team leadership skills



Working Conditions



? Full-time, on-site role



? Requires coordination with academic, transport, admin, and HR departments



? May involve weekend work during admissions, fee cycles, or audit period



Salary:



Senior Accountant Salary Range 50 to 60K



Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
