Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing accounting operations related to real estate properties, projects, and investments. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, timely closing of books, and effective financial controls across property portfolios.
Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesFinancial Accounting & Reporting
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for real estate entities and projects
Ensure accurate recording of property revenues, expenses, accruals, and adjustments
Handle month-end and year-end closing activities
Maintain general ledger and supporting schedules
Real Estate-Specific Accounting
Manage accounting for rental income, lease agreements, CAM (Common Area Maintenance) charges, and service income
Account for property acquisitions, disposals, and capital expenditures
Track construction-in-progress (CIP) and capitalization of costs
Calculate depreciation and amortization of property assets
Manage escrow, security deposits, and tenant advances
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts for properties and projects
Monitor actual performance against budget and analyze variances
Support cash flow planning for property operations
Compliance & Audit
Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS / GAAP) and company policies
Coordinate with external auditors and provide audit schedules and documentation
Support tax filings, including property taxes, VAT/GST, and other statutory requirements
Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight
Review and monitor accounts payable and receivable related to properties
Ensure timely invoicing, rent collection, and reconciliation of tenant accounts
Approve vendor payments and expense allocations
Reconciliations & Controls
Perform bank, escrow, and intercompany reconciliations
Maintain strong internal controls over financial processes
Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records
Team & Stakeholder Support
Guide and review work of junior accounting staff
Coordinate with property management, leasing, and legal teams
Provide financial insights to management for decision-making
Qualifications & SkillsEducation
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Professional certification (CA / CPA / ACCA / CMA) preferred
Experience
5-8 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management
Experience with real estate accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks)
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting standards
Proficiency in MS Excel and financial analysis
Understanding of lease accounting and property financials

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
